People have been wondering how the Mushroom Kingdom suddenly turned from a medivel place to a modern area. Me and the few moderators at Kamikaze Koopa ( signiture ) have decided that a large scale war happened sometime long ago. To protect themselves the Mushroom people built castles and fortresses. The castles and fortresses at the end of each level in SMB are whats left. We think SMB took place in TMK behind Peach's castle in the open areas.  |

Actually, it's not really medieval. It's more like a blend world. Peach is basically for kidnapping, since a princess would get kidnapped a lot. Plus, the castle took lotsa cash to build, so yeah, she has an elegant house.
As for Bowser's castle, he just likes to emphasize his vile, callous attitude by having gnarly sculptures, vicious spiky things, and a torture chamber to boot.

What? And I heard in a TMK mailbag and some other sites that people noticed more modern housing in recent games appose to the castles from the older games. |

In Yoshi's Island there were helicopters, submarines, cars all mixed into the otherwise ...er...pioneer? style world...it is old, but modern...if that makes any sense....okay I'll shut-up now!
