Wrong wording; that's the equation of a line. This is the slope of a line: y2-y1 x2-x1 (Edit: that's supposed to be division...)

All my good teachers...were...young women. That sounds odd but it is true, they could relate best to us kids. There was Mrs. Cunningham (23), Mrs. Drinkwine (25) and Mrs. Gorsline (30). At that young age they best understood us and could teach us. But unfortunately Mrs. Drinkwine (best last name ever!) left with her husband when they got married! Mrs. Gorsline got cancer and eventually was fired because her teaching skills with cancer rapidly declined! And Mrs. Cunningham was offered an invitation-only medical job at the Mayo Clinic that she couldnt refuse! Now all I have left is a conspiracy theorist, a caveman and a bunch of old hags!

My worst subject is also geometry 'cause It's the only class that I have a B in. My teacher is O.K. but not that great. She won't let us take notes so we can see what she is doing. Then after that she quizzes us and almost everyone fails. Other than that my teachers are pretty good. My science teacher will get us off topic in "group discussion time" and we end talking about things that could not relate to biology in any way. My P.E. teacher is also pretty cool. He pretty much doesn't care what we do as long as we stay within the area we are in.

Wrong wording; that's the equation of a line. This is the slope of a line: y2-y1x 2-x 1(Edit: that's supposed to be division...) DIVISION?? I've been getting that wrong since the start of the year?? Uh oh... I thought that meant the first Y is subtracted by the second Y and the first X is subtracted by the second X, then that gives you the slope of a line! WHAT WOULD DIVISION GET YOU?? Usually, I like math, it's quite simple. Sometimes it's so easy, I don't worry and don't do it... But my worst graded class is science (Currectly failing at a 50% ) Worst part (maybe not but...) I LIKE IT FOR HEAVENS SAKE!! I understand and memorize every stinking detail, yet, WE'RE GRADED ON WHAT WE TURN IN which I never manage to completely do! How does that eliminate 50 whole percent?? My most hated class, not worst, is Social Issues. I can't do a thing in society right now, why do I have to summarize, analyze, and all that? Phoey.

You're supposed to divide (y2-y1) by (x2-x1). That's how you get the slope. For example, you have two coordinates: (2, 1) , (4, 5) Then just replace the x's and y's with the values: 5 - 1 4 - 2 This equals: 4 2 Which simplifies to: 2

Oh...so you don't necessarily have to simplifie, you can work with that, but it's just easier to simplifie. I get it! Thanks.

Haven't looked in this thread for a while, this could turn into a math-help-hotline or something! But jeez, it seems like everyone is having trouble in math, I am obviously, variables screw me up like you wouldn't believe. This sort of stuff, from my homework actually, is an example, 2+2x-x=2 It's like, I know what to do, I know how to do it, but then that x or that - screws me up and it's, well, frustrating!!!

Even though you probably already have it done, x = 0
2+2x-x=2 Simplified (combine like terms (the x's)): x+2=2 The 2's on both sides of the equation cancel out so: x=0

Wow, thanks, and you're right, I did have it done, but I think my answer was -1, so I'm wrong. XD, this shtuff is hard!!

Well it's kinda simple when you look at it...
You've got:
2+2X-X=2
First, subtract the 2x minus the x on the left side...
2x minus x
it's like 2-1!!
you get:
2+x=2
Now, what number does X have to be for the equation to become 2=2? I know!
0.
There's something more confusing still though...
when you reach: 2+x=2, we have to subtract 2 from both sides (or whatever the lowest non-x number is) to get X=0 instead of taking that simple thought that's been lying in your head...
It's simple, just gotta remember the steps...
You'll get lost when they give you 4x+6y=18 and you have to find the slope from there...if you haven't already done it.

Haven't done that, don't know what a slope is, so I guess I still have to learn that. And yes, that do to one side do the other is like engrained in my head, my teacher says that with every single problem, it's annoying.

pffft thats all easy XD!
ive got myself quite a difficult line-up with my classes as a senior this year.
I mean, i have some easy classes like Economy, English, and Guitar, but then theres Trigonometry/Math Analysis, Chem AP/CP, and Physics. (I mean who takes 2 science classes in the same semester)
Thats mostly because im striving to be a Nuclear Physicist after college.

My algera teacher is pretty cool. The thing i don't like are word probs such as there is a gallon of 2% fat milk and a gallon of 9% fat milk. If there are 35 gallons of 2% fat milk how many gallons of 9% fat milk do you need to mix with the 2% fat milk to get 6% fat milk?
I don't like those probs

Well my awful teacher who doesn't teach me anything gave me a "B-" on yesterday's 6~week report! Not so bad, since the latest test I got was a 92% which will bump the grade up!
