My Maple Story trip didn't last long o.O. This is the reason why... www.yoshicurio.com/stuff/screen006.jpg...Welcome to the world of ROSE Online. A unbelievably humongous MMORPG, in BETA testing, with only two of the seven worlds complete. It has currently taken a full year in beta testing, and the first 2 worlds have been completed, so it's got a long way to go, however, even after the last 4 days of playing it, I have only covered 3% of the entire territoral area currently available to me. As with Maple Story, you get a job, and you train to become all powerful. Complete quests as and when they become available, and trade. You can even set up your own stalls to gain money, and you can call your stall whatever you want. If that isn't satisfying enough, go and forfil a little bloodlust and increase your level's to gain power. Evenly distribute your stats and skill points also. There are 4 job classes, and you can change them when you feel. There are also a set of subjob's you can take on also, after you have reached the required level. In the game, I'm a 'Muse' and have magical power bestowed upon me. Other than the Muse, you can be a Soldier, Hawker or Dealer. You can also ride around in a cart later on. The game itself is a beautifully crafted peice of engineering. If you're interested in taking a look at it, make sure you have a reletively powerful computer. This should run fine in performance mode with a 64Mb Graphics card, and an 800Mhz processor. The game's site is at www.roseonlinegame.com/index.asp . If you join, feel free to add my character name to your contact list on there. I can point out some of the things I got stuck on originally. Just make sure you get upto level 10 before leaving Birth Island. Once you leave, the enemies are a tad more difficult, and when you do leave, you can't get back. If you get disconnected mid game, don't worry, your stats are safely saved on the server in real time. Although, strange as it seems, if that does happen, you sometimes end up with more EXP than you had before, which is always good.

"im azn and i have green hair" Such a lovely quote on that screen cap XD. XD, you do get the odd strange person on here. That is one of my screenshots, by the way. Thats how I look right at this moment in the game. As you walk past people, you catch things they say. Had to laugh at what came up if you swore. If I put a sware word in, it'd say "You have used profanity" and change it into *^^*. Blood's in the game also. He caught me as I was feeling quite newbish though (Still wearing visitor clothing, still using my visitor weaponary, etc...).

It's that addictive? You think I should give it a shot? I might soon, as soon as I get how to play which will take a while...Well, it's easy right? What are the basic things I got to do to get used to it?

On the keyboard, Up makes your character go forward. Left and right rotate the camera left and right, and your character will go in that direction that your camera swings. Click on an enemy to attack, Heal yourself by either finding a place away from enemies and sitting down (By pressing F1) or eating an apple.
Thats the basics. As you go further, you'll use skills dialogs and item inventories. Again, very easy to pick up.

OK, thanks. Well I hope I'm not borthering you...What's a good class? Should i be a Muse too? You can be what you feel would fit you best. Take a look at the different classes on the site, see which one sounds the nicest. Still, you can change your job at a later time, under certain conditions, so if you're not totally satisfied, you can get a job change. I just went for Muse because I like the idea of weilding weapons, and being able to cast magic. Frog: Heh, well, this game is no where near completion. It's taken a year to do the first two planets, and there's seven in total. I think I'll be playing this for a good while.

I used to play this game... Sometime last year. ... I stopped after a while since I knew no one. *Shrugs* And now, I went through the process of updating the old client just to find out I need the new client... xD At any rate, I've tried downloading the new North American client about... Thirty or more times today and yesterday (... I'm a determined person. ... Yes, I also have my own motives, now shoo.), and I still can't seem to download the thing! It stalls at... Err... After about ten-thirty minutes of downloading. But it stalls every time (Firefox and IE) or fails (IE). It's starting to drive me crazy... It got old around try number twenty-six. ... I've been using Internet Explorer and FireFox to download it. *Twitches* ... Okay, try number... (Let's say thirty-eight) just fell through. That was on Netscape, too... Said the source file could not be read. This is irritating. EDIT -- Yeah, yeah. I know I should probably have just given up after try number ten, but I'm stubborn like that.

I did get one failure, but on the second time, it completed. I can host the file for you, but at ~20kb/s, it'll take around 4 hours, maybe 5. It's around 400Mb. Let me know and I'll make it available.

Let me know and I'll make it available. If you could, please. That would save me from trying many more times. ^^;; ... Provided the hosted file doesn't stall. I have time, five hours isn't so bad, either, considering this computer's left on all day and night.

Meh I can't play. I downloaded DirectX 9.0b but it's just a bunch of files. >_> *bad at downloading stuff* Help? LEVEL UP ! !What version of Windows are you running? You might not even need DirectX as you may be using the latest version already. If you goto Start > Run, and type in dxdiag it'll tell you what version of DirectX you're running. This line here: www.yoshicurio.com/stuff/dxdiag_screen.JPGShows I'm running DirectX 9c. I would guess that Maple Story requires at least DirectX 9, so it should run fine. without a new install of DirectX. You should be able to just download the client, and you're away. ^^ Dragonpaw: I'll get the file ready for hosting. Will edit this post when location is ready. I'll try my best to keep my connection up.

I have DierctX 9.0a I need 9.0b <_< >_> *Smacks Tempest with a monster truck* Ok, the file you should've downloaded is an .exe file. Running this will install DirectX 9b. From your description, you've downloaded a zip file containing multiple files. Goto 'file' > 'extract all...' and a window will show saying 'Extract files wizard' or something similar. Click next. In this dialog, you need to specify where you want to extract the files. Click browse, and click 'Desktop' on the left. Click OK, then click Next. It'll show a progress bar as it's extracting the files. Once done, it'll show a tick box with 'Show extracted files' next to it. Make sure this is ticked, and click Finish. The file you need to double click next is either setup.exe or dxsetup.exe. If setup.exe isn't in the list of files in the box that appears, then double click dxsetup.exe. Once setup is running, click next, accept the agreement, and click next and then Install. You will be prompted to restart your computer, so let it do it's thing. Once you've restarted, it's installed and all's lovely. ^^
