The only curse words that are not allowed in this board are those that are replaced automatically by the board after you post or preview your message. All other words are allowed. However, be aware that I'll always edit the censored words list as needed. I've realized that kids these days know virtually all curse words anyway, so I'll just ban the worst words, for the sake of the board's reputation. (Like the F word). Note that TimYoshi also participated in the creation of the censored word list, so there may be words that are being banned but that I didn't intend to ban.
A note for those who like to get around the board's word censoring feature:
To me, saying something like "f*ck" is no different than saying the full word. So please don't do it, or I'll feel like I'm being challenged. However, things like "fecking" are ok.
Please understand that we're not banning words to educate you. We're banning them to protect this board's reputation. So be aware that if you intentionally bypass a censored word, you're damaging the board's image.

Ok, gotcha on that one...i dont like to curse anyway!!!
One question though...i said s-p-o-o-n once, as in the piece of cutlery...so why did it come out as "sthingy"?
Another thing too, i said s-n-i-g-g-e-r as in laughing, it came out as "sblack"?
Why???

Another thing too, i said s-n-i-g-g-e-r as in laughing, it came out as "sblack"? Why??? The latter is quite obvious if you remove the s in it, you'll get a really bad derogative word. And besides, the real term (I think) is spelled snicker. You *snicker* when it's a stifled laugh or a chuckle inside. As for the first one, if you remove the s, the word is actually an innuendo for a woman's uhh... private part. Yeah... I'm surprised, since not many kids even know about that word, but it's on the block list, giving kids a heads up that there's something wrong in the word spooon.

yeah, well there are big differences between countries as well. I can think of two words that would be totally innocent to an American, but very vulgar to a Brit.
And on the other foot, the reason Toshi, or myself for that matter, had no idea about spooon is because minus the S, that isn't an innuendo for anything in English English.

Those two words were added by Tim.
I don't know where you or Tim "learned" this word, cause I had never heard it before. It appears as if this word has a bad meaning only within a very very limited geographical area, cause it doesn't mean anything bad, according to dictionaries. In dictionary.com it says it means "Any of several trees of the genus Calophyllum, of southern Asia, having light hard wood used for masts and spars". So let's not block bad words that are only known by a very very limited number of people. Besides, it interferes with legitimate words like spoon. You can't really tell a word is vulgar if you've never heard it before.
Like "bloody", perhaps? What does this word mean to a British person? To Americans it simply means "stained with blood", though I'm sure many Americans also know that it is a British word used to emphasize anger. But I have no idea how offensive it could be to British people.

Can't type Spooon?
Just don't go crazy with the one-letter-removed rules, because if you can always subtract a letter, or add a letter, or add and subtract a letter, then you can change a word into almost anything you want.

No, not bloody. That's not really that bad over here these days. Still not something to yell out in a public place though. Its just a word used for emphasis, though not specifically anger. You can use it as a milder substitude for the f word over here for most things. No, the two words, if I may be so bold, are "fanny" and "spunk". Friendly word of advice to all those more familiar with American English, don't go around saying these words in Britain. Their meanings in English English are rather different. dictionary.reference.com/search?q=fannyCheck right down the list for point 2 dictionary.reference.com/search?q=spunkCheck point 3. Ofcourse, since the global mod and admin aren't Brits, I've not done anything wrong as far as your concerned.

You created the censored word list. I only built up on it, and when I did those two words were already there. I think a list of words are just there by default. On my board they were there right when i made the board.
