Back to Yoshi for Chapter Seven! Yippee, this chapter's a little longer.
Yoshi could only watch helplessly as the roof came crashing in. He braced himself-but the blow never came. He looked back up to discover Troop standing above him, holding up the large chunk, but shaking. The dust eventually hid the scene again, and Yoshi was alone for what seemed like an eternity. When the dust cleared, Yoshi was shocked by what he saw; The roof was gone. Completely wiped out. Above his basement, where they had all hidden, he could see burnt trees, and some were completely torn, their roots a twisted mess around them. “Can I please have a hand, here?” He heard a voice to his right ask. He recognized it as Lemon’s. “I’m kind of stuck, and the walls are muddy and slanted…” Yoshi saw it was true. There was no way they could climb out. “Nope, sorry.” Troop shrugged, glancing at his bandaged wings. The chunk of roof lay at his clawed feet. “You guys may not be smart enough to get out, but it’s easy if you’re a Yoshi.” Blanco grinned, looking down at them from the edge of the pit. “All you gotta do is jump!” Yoshi smacked his forehead. “We can be forgetful, with everyone else to worry about.” He grabbed two egglings under his arms and leaped up out of the hole. Shadow, Lemon, and Cherry followed suit, with Troop on Cherry’s saddle. Kandi practically flew in front of them, and Leaf followed. “Let’s do it again!” She exclaimed happily. The other Yoshis looked around sadly; most of their homes had caved in. One scowled. “The apples got burnt!” He complained. “And now Blanco is running around with our fresh apple crisp.” Hearing this, some of the egglings started chasing the apple-toting Blanco, who laughed and dropped a few. Yoshi grinned, and felt better that at least some of his fellow Yoshis were happy. He reached out his tongue to steal one of the cooked apples, but missed and grabbed a stray pepper. He spat it out quickly. “Yuck! Whose was that!?” Shadow laughed. “Mine, of course. Who else loves peppers around here? I personally can’t see how you don’t like them.” Troop frowned. “Well, I’m glad that’s over, at least.” He was happy he didn’t get further injured. Now that the code’s requirement for helping had been fulfilled, he just wanted to get back home. But, he somehow felt even more indebted to the Yoshis, for they had done their best to protect him, even though he couldn’t help much. “If we sit here, Bowser could do that again.” Blanco thought aloud. “Let’s give him the ol’ one-two and teach him not to mess with us!” Yoshi saw the sense in that, but had another suggestion. “Of course, if we don’t strike back, he might think he took us out.” He replied. “Then we won’t be bothered.” “What does Bowser always do after he thinks he destroyed something?” Cherry argued. “Maybe… try to conquer the empty land? I think we should go.” “Alright, then. Whoever wants to go, can come with me and Cherry.” Yoshi decided. Surprisingly, only Shadow, Blanco, Lemon, and Kandi hurried behind him. Leaf quickly followed Kandi. “…Anyone else? No? Okay, then, let’s go! We don’t have any time to lose!”

It does have thirty chapters in all... XD
Chapter Eight!
They journeyed through the nearby woods, and surveyed the burnt trees. Some of the smoke was just starting to dissipate, which made hiking harder. Troop rode along on Yoshi’s back, pointing out smoke clouds that they should avoid. Yoshi led the small group through a few bushes. “Mmm, strawberries.” Kandi stopped to pick a few from the tiny plant. Yoshi was surprised that it hadn’t been damaged in the blast. Cherry bent down to snatch a few, as well. “Bowser’s castle is a good distance across the ocean, isn’t it?” Blanco scratched his head. “We need a boat. There might be one at the beach.” He suggested. “Good idea. Let’s let the girls finish grabbing their snacks…” He glanced at Cherry and Kandi. “…And then we can find a way to get there.” Cherry looked up. “Okay, I’m done.” She looked down at Kandi, who was still picking the little berries off the plant. “Don’t fill yourself up, you’ll get a cramp.” Leaf warned Kandi. “How about we leave it alone now?” He gently pulled her away from the bush. Kandi, who was placing the berries carefully in her mouth, promptly forgot about the bush. “What’re we doing, standing around? Let’s get moving.” She told Yoshi. He rolled his eyes turned around, once again leading the group forward. A Goonie flew by, and Yoshi snatched it with his tongue. He spat it out, but made sure it wasn’t going to leave. “What that for!?” It protested with a dry squawk. “How far away is the beach?” Yoshi questioned. The Goonie sniffed the air, and then turned. “Beach be that-a-way. Not far.” It answered, then flapped its narrow wings and glided away. Yoshi stared after the Goonie. He decided it wasn’t lying and hurried in the direction the Goonie had pointed out for them, his friends following hopefully. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
...I spelled "Goonie" right, didn't I? The birds from Yoshi's Island?

WOAHHH, I'm giving you guys two chapters!? Well, one's to make up for yesterday's absense. ^^
Chapter Nine!
Yoshi noticed the trees were thinning. He could see sunlight flitting through a wall of leaves, leaving it as bright as the treetops above them. Not a bird chirped; not an animal shuffled its way through the underbrush. Yoshi listened carefully through the silence; he could hear ocean waves. A seagull cried, and Yoshi excitedly pushed through the leaves into the bright sunlight. Yoshi and his friends squinted in the bright sunlight. Trapped smoke lifted through the dense leaves that they had disrupted and made their eyes water. Several birds circled high in the sky, calling angrily at the disruption the Bob-ombs had caused. “Oh, look! A boat!” Blanco exclaimed, scampering over to it. He looked into the little wooden rowboat, and his face fell. “Awww…” “What’s wrong now?” Cherry asked him, walking over. Yoshi and Shadow joined her. Kandi wanted to make a sand castle with Leaf. “Oh, no!” Cherry gasped when she saw what had happened to the tiny boat. She pointed, and Yoshi looked in as well. The boat had no bottom. “Brilliant. Now how are we going to get anywhere?” Shadow looked left and right; there were no other floatable objects in sight. “We may as well look for another one, or make a boat out of one of those burnt trees.” He sighed. Yoshi shook his head. “That’ll take too long. We don’t have enough time to build a boat. We’ll have to look for another one.” The others groaned; it looked like their little hike had just gotten a lot longer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------
And Chapter Ten...
Splinter gazed around the tiny meadow he had wandered into. He lay back in the tall grass and wildflowers near a softly trickling stream, enjoying the sweet scent of the afternoon. Wait… he sniffed again. Was that smoke? Splinter sat up and stared intently at a tree. It had scorch marks on it. But it couldn’t have caught on fire… He’d seen fire before. It ate up the whole thing, not just scorched it. Very strange… He thought. What else was odd about this place? It seemed familiar, in an odd way, but Splinter knew he’d never been here before. Splinter lay back down, staring at a cloud thoughtfully. His train of thought was interrupted again when he heard voices nearby. He rolled over, and got on his knees; he wanted to be ready to spring up if the voices were threatening. “Why did the boat have to be ruined?” One voice whined. “There’s always another boat…” Another replied. What was a boat? Splinter breathed heavily, sending some flowers adrift. “Yoshi, do you hear something?” A Koopa’s voice asked. Splinter hunkered down in the grass. What was a Koopa doing here, of all places? “… What was it, Troop?” A voice asked. It sounded like the leader. “I don’t know. Something breathing.” Troop replied. Splinter held his breath. “… Nah, it must’ve been the wind. There’s a lot of stuff being blown around here. A lot of trees and branches got knocked loose in the explosion.” The first voice stated. Splinter sighed with relief. He didn’t want to be discovered… What if they weren’t friendly? And what was a Koopa doing here!? When Splinter was sure the voices had passed, he sat back up. The voices sounded oddly like his, but he couldn’t be sure. He didn’t like this place; it was too weird. If only he knew how to get back home…

I love how this story has too different plots going on in it; it makes the story rather interesting. Great job on both chapters! Your sense of description and point of view are very well detailed. And the Grammar Nazi didn't have to strike.

Oh sure, blame the Nazi's Enrique... well, I'm not gonna go into that.
So, now is this Splinter or Yoshi's Story I'm starting to wonder. Well, looks like Yoshi already has his story, so... aw heck, call the story whatever you want, it's still very good!

I have no idea what it's called XD
Chapter 'Leven.
Splinter sat and absentmindedly scratched at the dirt near his clawed toes. He didn’t remember what he had wanted to do suddenly. He was starting to kick off his shoes, when he heard someone sobbing. Splinter snapped back to attention, and rolled behind a tree. He peeked through some dry leaves to see something blue. It looked like a baby dinosaur. Splinter wasn’t sure what it was, but he felt compelled to help it. “…Hello?” He finally got up the courage to ask. The thing seemed harmless enough, but it made a lot of noise. The dinosaur stopped crying, and looked left and right. “Who’s there?” It asked with a tiny, high-pitched voice. “Uhm…” Splinter hesitated. Did he really want it to know where he was? “I won’t hurt you.” He tried explaining. “What’s wrong?” “I don’t know where I am…” The blue dinosaur replied. “But where are you?” Splinter thought for a moment. It really didn’t seem like the blue dinosaur was about to hurt him, so he crawled out from behind the tree. The blue dinosaur stared curiously at him, and then held out its hand. “I’m Finny.” It stated. She must have graduated… Splinter thought. He stared at Finny’s hand. “Well, are you going to shake my hand or not?” Finny asked, waving its arm a little. Splinter didn’t know what to do. How did he shake her hand? Finny noticed him pausing, so it grabbed his hand and shook it for him. “What’s your name?” She asked. This, he knew how to do, finally. “I’m called Splinter, but I haven’t been Named yet…” He answered. “And by the way, what are you?” He asked, restraining himself from pointing a finger at it. “I’m a Yoshi, of course! Well, a girl one. You didn’t know that?” Finny replied. So this is what a Yoshi is! Splinter realized. But… what’s a girl? He had never met a girl in his life, since he had lived at Bowser’s castle. This was quite a predicament. His answered questions only led to more numerous and confusing ones; why had he never heard of any of these things before? Was his keeper hiding something from him? ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Whee, that was one of my favorite chapters to write so far *spins*

Another great chapter, Yoshee! It really described Splinter's thinking process well; it seems as if he was educated enough just to fight in Bowser's army. You are definately getting better by the chapter!

Chapter Twelve. Dun dun duuun...
“At any rate, I’m lost…” Finny sighed. She looked at the ground, as if she was waiting for Splinter to say something. Splinter hesitated for a moment, wondering what she wanted. “…Do you want some help getting back?” He finally ventured. Finny’s eyes brightened. “Of course! I think it’s in that direction, but it’s kinda dangerous since the explosions.” She pointed north, away from the beach. Splinter realized that the other group with the Paratroopa had gone west, also away from the beach. Or maybe along it, since he was on the south-western shore. It sloped outwards, and then rounded out at the north end like a vast circle. Splinter had made a mental map of it in the early morning before he had glided down. “Okay, then.” Splinter led her into the woods. They enjoyed the next few hours hopping over fallen logs, coughing their way through smoke clouds, and climbing trees to see if they could spot the town. Splinter often had to help Finny up over obstacles and give her a boost into the lower branches of the trees, but it felt strangely… good inside. Splinter got a warm tingling that reached his toes whenever the Yoshi smiled at him, or thanked him for helping. This feeling was foreign to Splinter. It startled him that doing someone else’s work would feel good. He had often done chores back at the castle, but he never felt the sense of accomplishment that this deed gave him. He almost didn’t want the journey to end. All too soon, Finny excitedly pointed from atop a tree at something she could see. Splinter helped her down, and gave her a piggyback ride in the direction she was pointing. “Tallyho! Home ahoy!” She cried, waving a stick above her head. Splinter just shook his head. Where had she learned to be so… uncivilized? They spotted another brown dinosaur (Yoshi, Splinter reminded himself) picking up smoking sticks. It seemed to be sad, but it was helping out its damaged community. “Mom!” Finny shouted, and leaped off Splinter’s back. She suddenly turned to face him. “I think you should go now; my mom has a thing against non-Yoshis.” She whispered to him. “…Okay… I may see you again someday, then.” Splinter replied sadly. “Well, it was nice meeting you… Splinter!” Finny grinned and held out her hand. Splinter smiled, knowing what to do finally. He grabbed her hand and shook it. “Okay, bye now!” Finny said enthusiastically, and ran to the brown Yoshi with one last glance back. Splinter waved, and skipped back off into the woods. These Yoshis are definitely strange… Splinter thought to himself. But they sure are nice! His merry thoughts were interrupted by a bright flash. Splinter fell senseless to the ground and couldn’t move.

Awww... The images that I got from this chapter was very cute. It is another very well written one. Also, it's good to see that Splinter is starting to become a little bit more defined as a character as this story progresses.

Yay.
Chapter Thirteen!
Kandi lay back on some leaves and groaned. “I’m bored… we’ve gone around all the beaches and we still haven’t found a boat!” “We may have not found a boat, but I just saw something very… interesting.” Yoshi commented from a perch up in a high, gently swaying fruit tree. “Did any of you guys see that weird flash over there?” He pointed over the horizon, to a spot a few miles away. He had seen smoke there earlier. It must’ve been one of the newer towns that Yoshi hadn’t had time to visit yet… “Just because Lavender offered to let us take a break at her house doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be on our guard.” He told his friends. The breeze picked up, shaking Yoshi nearly off his branch. He grasped on to the narrow branches, trying not to get shaken off. Troop eyed Yoshi up in the tree tiredly. “Hmm, was that somewhere near a town?” He asked. “If I’m not turned around and looking the wrong way, then yes, it should be very near a town.” Yoshi called back down to Troop. “Why do you ask?” Troop stared at a giant leaf. “Oh, nothing.” He replied. Splinter is attracted to other living things. That may have been Yoshis attacking him, or worse… He worried. If Splinter got injured or killed, then Troop’s whole mission could be at stake. “We should probably find out what it was, though. Call the mayor of that town… if you know which one it is.” He suggested. “…Alright, then. Good idea.” Yoshi decided. Troop’s military training and wits were invaluable. Yoshi had almost forgotten about the news system. He just hoped it wasn’t broken from the explosions…
