Sorry, I missed a day. Next chapter, I changed the storyline drastically. The next one's going to be a long chapter, I hope! =D
Chapter Fourteen
“…Yes… No… Yes.” Yoshi replied to the Yoshi leader of the nearby town. “Well, I did see a bright flash, but it could’ve been anything from an explosion to just a spark. Thank you for reporting, Yoshi. We’ll look into it.” The Yoshi assured him, and signed off. Just then, Lavender came into her communications room. Lavender was a purple Yoshi who cared about everyone, and welcomed any passerby to her home. She had blue boots and blue eyes. Her house had a new, sloppily thatched roof placed on top of the rubble of her old brick roof. “All done, Yoshi?” She asked politely, carrying some sort of cut-up sandwich. Yoshi smelled leaves. “Yes,” He replied. “but do you know where everyone else is? I saw them wandering off before I walked in…” It was nearing sunset. Yoshi wanted everyone back with him by dark, just in case something happened. He was in charge of the Yoshis, and he didn’t want anyone getting hurt on his watch. “No, as a matter of fact, I haven’t seen them since you got here.” Lavender answered. “I think they went off on a nature walk.” Yoshi sighed. “Well, we might as well go find them. Thanks anyways, Lavender.” Yoshi came out of the house and spotted Troop on his stomach near the treeline. “Ugh… they ran too fast. I fell off.” He explained wearily. Yoshi sighed again. “Well, let’s go find them. Do you know which direction they were going to go in?” Troop picked himself up and scratched his head. “They were going to see what that bright flash was, I believe. But they should’ve been back by now; it wasn’t that far off, you said.” Yoshi pulled Troop onto his saddle and they set off into the trees with the dying sunset to guide them. An orange glow lit the trees gently and led the way for Yoshi and Troop. I thought I told them to stay here for now… why don’t they listen?

After a flippin' six months, I decided to start writing it again today. =D
What chapter was I on? Fifteen, now? It's a bit short, but I'm trying to make the next one longer right now.
Yoshi’s friends, as a matter of fact, were quite lost. Surrounded by Goombas, they cried out in vain. “Help!” Kandi yelled. “Please, someone save us!” Blanco agreed. “Hey, you jerks had better leave us alone!” Cherry shouted, her fists balled up. “C’mon, guys, it isn’t so bad.” Shadow said. His tongue shot out and grabbed one. His eyes suddenly watered, and he spat it back out. “Agh! Those are nasty!” Everyone stared at Shadow; he had the strongest stomach of all of them. “Then what should we do?” Leaf turned to everyone in turn, hoping for some sort of plan. Before anyone else could speak up, however, the strange-tasting Goombas charged. The group managed to dodge out of the way, but now they were split up, Goombas surrounding each party. “Is it just me, or does it look like there’s more?” Blanco noticed. “I don’t know; I can’t see anything,” Shadow said. The light was quickly fading, and they could no longer see the Goombas well. “Hang on!” A not-too-distant voice called. The group glanced around, hoping to find the origin of the voice. Suddenly, out of the trees shot Yoshi. He bounced onto one of the Goombas’ heads, and flattened it. He leapt from Goomba to Goomba until they decided they had had enough, and fled. Yoshi landed neatly in front of the group, Troop clinging to his back. “I thought I told you not to go off in the dark,” He told them sternly. “We were trying to find out where that light came from, though,” Kandi piped up. “The island gets dangerous at night, you know. We can’t see as well as the other… things that live here,” Yoshi explained. “By the way, how did you do that?” Blanco queried. “I didn’t know Goombas did that when you jumped on them.” Yoshi laughed. “It all comes from experience,” He answered. “Let’s go. We’ll check it out in the morning.” -----------------------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah, and I've been revising the earlier chapters somewhat. I'll fix those up later.

"It all comes from experience"... for some reason, a chuckle lept out of me when I heard that.
It's awesome you've started again, and you started again well! I must applaud you... *claps a lot*. What IS that orange light... you better know yourself!

What IS that orange light... you better know yourself! It's called a sunset. Next! Chapter Sixteen Splinter woke up to a splitting headache. He rubbed his eyes, and then sat up quickly. Where was he!? As his vision cleared, he noticed he was back at King Bowser’s castle. How did he get there? His next question was soon answered. The young Magikoopa was standing outside what Splinter noticed was a cage. A cage that Splinter found himself in. He threw himself against the bars. “Let me out!” He told his keeper. “Not until you tell me why you were way out on a tiny island in the middle of nowhere,” The small Koopa replied. “Not until you tell me why you knocked me out to bring me back,” Splinter demanded just as stubbornly. “…I didn’t think of that,” The Magikoopa finally admitted. “I thought you would try to fight me for some reason.” “Why would I do that?” Splinter asked, confused. Was he not to be trusted? What did he do wrong? “Anyways, why did I have to fly halfway across the ocean looking for you?” His keeper changed the subject quickly. Splinter quickly summed up what he had eavesdropped about his young master the other day. “I wanted to know what you were talking about,” He explained. Splinter’s keeper giggled. “You’re smarter than I thought you were,” He grinned and reached through the cage bars to pat Splinter on the head. The Yoshi felt proud of the compliment, but something else was bothering him. “…Why did you bring me back?” He finally asked. What was so wrong about the island that the Magikoopa did not want him there? His keeper didn’t answer. He just got a far-off look behind his glasses, as if he were somewhere else suddenly. Then he frowned, and turned away. “Oh, yes. Your cage,” He flicked his wand over his shoulder at Splinter and the door swung open. “Don’t leave again, hear? I have things to do.” And with that, he marched away, leaving Splinter to ponder the conversation they had just had. ----------------------------------------------------- Anyone recognize the Magikoopa? =P

If anyone cares, here's Chapter Seventeen. Kind of short, but I have three whole chapters to do what I want right now, heheh. Wait, never mind. Next chapter's going to be HUGE, hahaha. I thought I had more space than I did :<
So, Splinter spent the next few hours figuring out that he indeed wanted to go back to the island, however much the Magikoopa did not want him to be there. It was like a nagging that ate away at his mind, and forced Splinter to bring up the subject in his thoughts no matter how hard he tried to divert his train of thought. Later that day, he was called up to his keeper’s room in the tower. He hastily ascended, using his wings to aid his climb. Little did he know he’d soon be making that long climb very soon again. “I wanted you to see this,” the small Koopa chattered excitedly. “It’s a new spell I’ve learned recently. I wasn’t exactly sure what would happen when I first came across it, but I do like it.” Before Splinter could ask, the tiny magician pointed his starred wand at himself and vanished in a cloud of green smoke. The smoke seemed to hang there in the air in front of Splinter. The magic Yoshi stood there and gaped at the spot his keeper had been in, until it clicked in his head that the smoke was the magic turtle. “It’s brilliant!” A disembodied voice sang. Splinter couldn’t help but grin at his master’s pride. When the Magikoopa came back into focus, and thus turning solid again, he was beaming. Splinter took the hint and applauded enthusiastically. As the Magikoopa had no further need for him at the moment, Splinter descended the long flight of stairs back down into the castle. The island with the strange inhabitants way out in the ocean soon flooded his mind again, no matter how much he pleaded for it not to come.

Oh Splinter's longing is starting to show... forced to live life as an audience when something out there is calling for him... You just feel Splinter so much in this chapter, more than the other chapters...
But as all episodes of a good show, we all wonder... what'll happen next?

I'm totally on a roll! Haha.
Chapter, uh... Eighteen!
Splinter decided he could not take it any more as afternoon faded to evening. He’d just have to risk the cannons again. He carefully went over in his memories the exact path he had glided in to figure out where the island was. He’d have to be more direct this time, and not waste any precious moments. His keeper would have to know he’d be leaving, as the cannons were quite noisy, especially in the relative silence of King Bowser’s castle. Splinter could hear them firing off somewhat infrequently on the roof. In the fading light, he scaled the castle walls yet again, being sure to remain much more silent this time. There were more guards tonight, as the Bob-ombs were still firing in the general direction of what he found to be the very island he was trying to get to. He stood there and watched, transfixed, as something else clicked in his ever-developing mind. One question was answered; the island was a very dangerous place at the moment; his keeper wouldn’t want Splinter to get hurt. But something else now bothered him; why were they bombing the island? Why, why, why? Splinter grew dizzy as the question spun in his head. He shook it off as quickly as he could. Trying to stick to the shadows, he crept silently from one wall to the next. At the next break in the firing, Splinter took his chance and loaded himself into the cannon. Momentarily, he felt the metallic shell of a Bob-omb get stuffed into the barrel along with him, and the two of them were blasted off! Splinter opened his wings and determinedly maintained a level flight, ignoring the astonished cries of the Koopa soldiers on the rooftop. The night sky was cool against his ever-warm hide, and he appreciated the breeze. If it weren’t for a chance glance backwards, he wouldn’t have noticed the cloud of Paratroopas on his tail. He cried out, and flapped his almost useless wings as fast as he could. The only thing he succeeded in doing was losing altitude, however, as his wings were built for gliding, not hard flapping. Splinter would have to figure out how to use them right, and quickly! He swooped under some clouds, their flat bellies scraping his wings on every upbeat. Splinter felt he was getting better at this, but flying couldn’t possibly be this hard for the birds he frequently caught glimpses of. He ducked, tumbled, spiraled, and swerved, trying to lose the guards. He eventually noticed that the clouds were very thick tonight, however few there were. He hid in them as quickly as he could, using their cover to double back, or make an unexpected turn. Just as he thought his strength was about to run out, he flipped in midair to check for more of the small army after him. Satisfied after finding no one, he turned back upright and made his way to the island. His back felt like it was about to break as he clung onto a high tree. It was too dark for him to see very far around, but he felt very… at home here. The sweet air in the tree did wonders for his body; he had never felt more alive. No wonder he could remember anything he wanted in startling detail; this was nothing like King Bowser’s fortress. He sighed with relief; his keeper wouldn’t be able to find him in the dark. Splinter made his way to the center of the tree, where he laid back among the fruit and huge green leaves. He let his wings hang carelessly off to his sides, and his tail drooped onto the next tree branch down. He closed his eyes for what felt like the first time in his life, and let the night fade away while the sweet scent of the island floated up to the clouds, and beyond.

Home sweet home for Splinter... or so it seems I don't think I have any critique for your story, it seems great as is! And the music I'm listening to matches what's going on great... ah... I can imagine him... feeling all at home...
