"EEK!"

This was the shout Yoshee had to give before completing her tumble down the steep cliff side, after accidentally letting go of the edge.

She lay there in the dirt for a few second. Yoshee emitted another sigh before slowly coming to.

"Ow..." she said softly. "Note to self, four fingers aren't good for climbing."

Yoshee looked about her surroundings. She was now about ten feet from a huge old gate made of rusting iron bars. Beyond the gate was nothing but darkness, which was the entrance of this castle.

"This place has got to be at least 500 years old... cool." she said. "Well, I'm off to save the world."

With that to note, she took off running. Effortlessly, she pushed aside the weak old gate and continued to run into what seemed like pure darkness...

Enrique suddenly heard the sound of screaming. ...the laster was screaming in a loud explosion as well, causing a thunderous boom to be heard through the chamber.

"What's this?" Enrique thought. "The laser didn't hit me. But by the sound of that scream, it hit someone else. ...but Lava is still out of range, and the master wouldn't make a target of himself... so who took the hit?"

As Enrique slowly opened up his eyes. As he saw what lay before him, he gave a gasp.

On the floor, at his feet, was a small, but obvious creature.

"My word, that's Champ!" he thought, with another gasp.

A bit of smoke was rising from the small chao, who had taken the attack.

Though the attack was quite big, it looked as though Champ didn't get too hurt, as the little chao was still up and looking right into Enrique with Champ's big eyes.

"Champ, are you alright?" Enrique asked as he looked down at Champ with shock.

<What, that little attack?> Champ asked. <That was nothing.>

"Are you kidding?!" Enrique shouted. "I almost got killed!!"

<But are you dead? No. No come on, we have to keep fighting.> Champ said, raising a paw to Enrique.

"Fine, let's keep fighting." Enrique said, accepting the hand and placing the chao on his back.

"Fine, you have a little ally. Nothing that small's gonna help." Nauro said with confidence.

"I didn't want to say it out loud, but I can tell by the way Champ's looking at me that there's a plan involved. I will bet Yoshee's somewhere close. The best thing we can do is buy time."

After quickly thinking, Enrique stood with both fists up as Champ clung to his back.

"My, are we confident?" Nauro said.

"This tears it!" the master yelled out.

Everyone turned to look at the mysterious one watching the battle from above. "If you do not finish this battle in five minutes, I swear I'll make you all pay for your insolence by detonating this castle! Everyone soul besides mine will perish! Now hurry and end this already!"

Everyone on the chamber gasped, even Nauro.

"WILL SOMEONE UNTIE ME ALREADY?!" Lava shouted, wiggling around in his ropes. "I'm not going to be stuck like this when the castle comes on down!!"

Yoshee did need to take anytime at all to reach the tower's base.

"You'd think a bad dude like that would at least have some guards or something." she said, as she ran up a flight of stairs. At the top was a huge door. From behind it, the sounds of a battle could be heard.

"...what's going on in here?" She asked, slowly opening the door.

In the foreground, she saw Lava tied up. behind him, Enrique an Champ where duking it out with Nauro. Way in the back, an ominous figure was watching over them.

"Yoshee!" Lava shouted.

Yoshee wove her hands in distress and placed a finger in front of her mouth, signaling him to silence.

"...oh, I get it!" he shouted. "I'll be very quiet!"

Yoshee slammed her hand over her face, both in surprise that Lava didn't get the real message and that the evil guys where deaf to not hear him screaming like that. perhaps the battle was too loud.

Tip-toeing forward slowly, Yoshee crept over to Lava and began to untie him.

Champ suddenly flew up to Nauro and delivered a hard blow right to him.

Enrique quickly pointed upward, making Champ fly above Nauro to avoid a laser attack.

Enrique quickly calculated the angles of the rooms and pointed to a new location quickly, directing Champ to move and dodge the laser. Every time the laster gave a rebound, Enrique continued to direct Champ.

Finally, as the laser receded, Enrique began to move his finger in the air in random shapes. So did Nauro, to confuse Nauro. As he dropped his guard, Enrique pointed at the dragon thing that Nauro was riding.

Champ flew right over toward the dragon and gave it a prompt attack. The force was enough to send Nauro flying off his ride. With the dragon down as it crashed into a wall, they all knew the laser attack wouldn't be occurring anytime soon.

"Yes." Enrique thought. "With Champ's agile moves and powerful attacks, and my tactics, I think we may have this down. The laser is gone already, so there is not much else left to worry about."

Suddenly, Nauro got up, looking quite enraged. His eyes where now glowing and starring right at Enrique, desiring vengeance.

"Two minutes." the master said, behind the scenes.

Right, now on with the fic:

Teo gave a roar as he continued his flight. The others all looked at his eyes, realizing he had signaled for their attention.

“What’s up?” Yoshifrog asked.

Teo tilted his head to look downwards.

The others leaned over his left side and looked back down to the Earth. Almost directly below them was a castle, seemingly surrounded by Darkness.

“That castle…” Moshi thought. “I can sense immense evil in that place… what is it?”

“Who wants to bet they’re down there?” Yoshifrog asked.

John nodded. “They must be. Those three must be in there.”

Leo gripped the spell book tightly. “…this is going to be dangerous. I suggest…”

Leoshi looked back down again. “That we quickly get them out of there and leave. No battle, just an escape. We have no time for a fight.”

“Sounds good.” Yin said, still kicking back.

“Okay, let’s do it!” Yapi said.

“Fine.” Moshi said, though a tad disappointed.

“Who would have thought…” Leoshi thought. “When Enrique isn’t around, I seem to be the brains.”

“Alright.” Leo said. “Let’s go.”

Teo nodded in acknowledgement. After that, Teo began to decrease in altitude, slowly diving down towards the Castle with his occupants along for the ride.

The battle never ceased. Enrique had continued to direct Champ’s movements, making accurate hits and dodges every time. Every attack by the chao was directly inflicting more and more pain on Nauro, who was left defenseless.

“Just once more now!” Enrique shouted. “GO!”

Champ struck Nauro once more, finally knocking him down. His deep breathing was all that could be heard in the silent chamber. That is, until the master of the castle could b heard.

“You fool.” the master said. “I gave you the chance to defeat them, but you failed. Now you all will pay as I burn this place to the ground!”

“What?!” Enrique asked.

“Yes, you heard me correctly, smart boy.” the master said, with a bit of evil in his voice. “Let’s see you solve your way out of this problem!”

The master gave a yell, then jumped in the air. On the fall back, he quickly shot what appeared to be a ball of fire from his hands. It hit a nearby pillar and caused it to explode in a blast of fire.

It had started now, as the rapid successions of pillars and bricks began to fall from the castle. There was a moaning sound as the castle was slowly crumbling beneath their feet.

Enrique took Champ and ran over to Yoshee and the now freed Lava. As he did, Champ returned to Yoshee’s side.

“We have to leave.” Enrique said. “This place is going to fall down.”

“I can see that.” Lava said, watching a flaming pillar crash in the distance.

Enrique turned around to look back at the enemy. “Why did you decide to bring down your own castle, just so you would be taken with it-”

But the master was now gone, and where Nauro and his fallen ride where now rested a pile of burning debris.

“That’s not good!” Yoshee shouted.

Lava took off running. “Shut up and run already!”

Enrique and Yoshee shrugged, before running off after Lava with Champ in tow.

They running quickly turned into a panicked sprinting, as the entire chamber fell behind them. They began their flight down a spiral staircase, when they began to feel a strange sensation. Though their feet had been planted on the floor, they felt a bit unbalanced.

“What the heck? Do you feel that?” Lava asked.

“It’s the tower!” Enrique shouted. “It’s going to fall over!”

“And we’re about 50 or so flights from the ground right?” Yoshee asked.

“RUN!” Lava shouted. They continued to scream as flaming bricks and support beams gave way, falling right past them. The rumbling had intensified to a continuous thunder, as balance became more and more hard to keep.

“We’re not going to make it!” Yoshee shouted.

<We have to!> Champ replied to her.

“Champ’s right!” Enrique said. “We must!”

By now they where at a 30 degree incline, as the tower continued to fall to it’s side, slowly but surely. It was obvious that they would not be able to climb down the entire flight in time. As time ran by, the tilting speed had increased, bring them to a 45 degree angle. Yet it would still take about a minute more for the tower to make contact with the ground.

“This is futile!” Enrique shouted. He pointed to a nearby open window. “We need to try and escape this way.”

He jumped out the window, landing on the side of the tower which was not at a 50 degree angle, before pulling the others along with him. As he did, he could feel the sensation one would have of falling at a very fast rate, with the wind trying to push him off.

“You want us to jump off the tower?!” Yoshee asked, screaming over the roar of the collapsing castle.

“The tower is at an angle! We can run down it’s side!” Enrique shouted.

They began to run down the side of the tower now, with difficulty because it was still steep to run down.

However, their running would also turn void. They could feel wind resistance pushing back up on them. The four of them, being way less massive then the falling tower, began to slow own on decent…

They where suddenly falling even slower, in a way that they couldn’t keep up with the tower. It looked as though they were lifting off the wall, until they where falling separately from the side of the tower. Each of them gave a collective scream as they had nothing left to hand on to now that they where falling without anything left.

However, their fall came to a sudden stop. Each one of them had landed on something semi-soft.

“…are we dead?” Lava asked.

They where left starring at the moving skies ahead of themselves while lying down.

“We got to be in that place up in the beyond.” Lava said.

“Hey dude, what’s up?” A voice asked.

Lava looked down and saw Yoshifrog, and all of the others starring right at them.

Lava got up suddenly. “Eh, not much.”

It had become apparent that Teo had caught them as they where falling.

“Phew, that was close.” Yapi said, whipping her head to remove some sweat.

“You have no idea.” Enrique said, getting up and brushing off his shirt.

Just then came the sound of the awaited explosion. The group looked down from the safety of Teo’s back and saw an enormous mushroom-cloud from where the castle sued to stand.

“…so, what are three kids like you doing in a place like this?” Yin asked, still in a kicked back position.

“Hey, we almost got killed!” Yoshee shouted. “A little sympathy would have been appreciated!”

“Almost been killed?” Moshi scoffed. “Been there before, it’s nothing new.”

“Please, stop bickering.” John said. “We’re all back together again, remember?”

“So, I guess it’s agreed we never split up again?” Yoshifrog asked.

“Yes, never again.” Yapi said, with a sign.

“So, now what do you propose to do?” Yin asked.

Leo looked at the group for a moment. “It’s too dangerous to return to Rogueport now. We must press onward, deeper into the continent. We must reach the temple, as soon as possible.”

The group gave a nod as he spoke.

“And who knows?” Moshi asked. “Adventure seems to be just around the corner. Let’s go and find it, before I get bored again.”

Just like before, they where off again, flying into the skies ahead with one part down and a lot ahead.

I ended this arc at last! Now I’m going to get started on a new arc. This new one will have a new location, places, people, and more.

Thus with a new arc comes new characters. Done anyone want to add another character of theirs, or does a newcomer want to join the fun in this? Just let me know, because the first part of the third arc’s coming soon!

GO CHAMP! XD What an excellent ending to this arc! In fact, I didn't expect for this arc to finish this quickly. I think it's because this story has captivated me. I can't wait to see the next one!

Yes, eggsellent conclusion. I lurve it ^^. This is the kind of stuff that should be published. I could picture the whole story in my mind like a movie unraveling before me.

Maybe we can meet Treyba, Fantasy Guy, and Velvet T.?
Treyba (Goomba) is rambunctious and rough-playing. He's pink-headed and his mask covers the top half of his head. In ascending order, his mask colors are red, yellow, and blue. Also has green spikes in the back.
Fantasy Guy (Shy Guy) is modest and usually quiet. He can replicate holograms. His hair is like Cloud Strife's, but blue and purple. He also has a tie. He also has white robes and a red mask.
Velvet T. (Toad) is as weird as me. She likes anime and has an unmatched aim with her arm cannon. She looks almost like Jolene from Paper Mario 2, but with a friendly face, a green top with white diamond-shaped spots, and a ponytail.
