2 hours is the absolute minimum battery life on the PSP, ie when you have all the features turned on. Average battery life is probably more like 3-5 hours.

3-5 hours still sucks.

You're right, it does suck compared to the original GB that managed about 20 hours on a single set of batteries (though it DID need twice as many as later models) However, its also about the same as you'll get from a DS running with all its features on (mic, wireless, backlight) On average, my DS is lasting about 7 or 8 hours before the warning light comes on and that's with no wireless or mic. That's half the life of the GBA SP (and with dual screens who can be surprised, twice the power requirement) Maxiumum PSP life is stated at 10+ hours with the advanced features disabled. All depends how you use it.

Which is why I've started to play DS while connected to the mains, no need to worry about battery life then Somthing interesting about the PSP... some guy has got a web browser from Wipeout Pure tricked into accessing "real" webpages.. so with some messing around, you too can browse the internet on your PSP: games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=05/03/27/1355224&from=rss

One thing that i like about the psp is that you will be able to watch movies on it... so it is also kinda like a protable dvd player.. ;D You can use the DS / GBA (SP) as a mp3 & movie player, if you buy a "Play-Yan" / "Playan" or what. Well, it's only released in Japan at the moment, but i think that thing will come to us, haha anyway, i only want to listen to music via my DS, the movies are waiting till i get home, hah =) www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/playan/index.html [note: i want one :] Man, that's VERY cool (if it real, heh ). I heard DS aslo has the "chance" to get online, and browse webpages. Like mobile phones - XML pages, blahblah... We waiting for your stuff, dear hackers ;D

I'm pretty sure the DS does have flaws of its own...
From what I've heard, it has the same dead pixel problem as the PSP...
that and I find the buttons really tiny for my gargantuan hands...

From what I've heard, it has the same dead pixel problem as the PSP... Yep, it's true. But I think PSP has got more problems than DS in overall: www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=4010Haha, the "UMD launcher" feature is so cool Um... i'm with you I can press all buttons (a, b, x, y) with my thumb And one more problem with the DS' interface design: the dust pieces (cause the sweating) easily can make their home in the little... "edge" near the + pad. ...exasperating...

Ahh, it's a very good job I don't let Sony fanboy's anger me. I'm satisfied in the knowing that Sony's consoles are among the most unreliable systems ever bought out. And yes, the one of those PSP vids prematurely ejecting the UMD is one I saw a while ago on IGN. I didn't know there were more, which reinforces my point that the reliability of Sony systems is almost nothingness. Yeah, DS has got flaws, but the PSP has that many, it's almost unbelivable. I think I'd be comfortable in the knowing that my DS cartridges won't eject when I play it, or I'd get thumb cramps while using the incredibly rubbishly placed analog stick. PSP wasn't designed, it was more likely thrown together quickly to see what would happen, and guess what? All the chavs will buy it, and steal money out of their parents purse to buy this addon: www.the-magicbox.com/0503/game050328i.shtmlThere are original gamers, then there are nutcases. I won't spend 200 UK pound on something that 'might' work. I'm glad you bought that up Norb.

It gets better when you read what Sony had to say about these problems, specifically the Square button. www.gamespot.com/news/2005/01/24/news_6116985.htmlTo make some quotes from Sony themselves: This has to rank as one of the most arrogant statements I've ever heard from a company.

And yes, the one of those PSP vids prematurely ejecting the UMD is one I saw a while ago on IGN. I didn't know there were more, which reinforces my point that the reliability of Sony systems is almost nothingness. I think that malfunction caused by the horribly interface design. I mean, the "eject" button (or slider) is VERY near to the R button. So, if you have got a PSP, and a bad luck, it's able to pop out the UMD from itself (e.g. if you press R button). BTW, the PSP has got "varnish wrapping". LOL, that's a little weird for a BLACK, and "iwilltakeitwithme" handheld console. Welcome Mr. Scratch, please come in, this is your new home! Also, a lot of PSP owner (from Japan) reported, the PSP able to freeze out when the dear user shakes the system while playing. That's funny :-] And the games load a lot, i heard. E.g.: Lumines... Lumines is a "simple" puzzle game. There are no "polygon hills", and more... That game needs 10secs to boot up. That's not a small time, if you ask me =P (there is a RPG, what needs 30secs to boot up... heh... i forget it's name) And, if you combine the "loading time" with "battery life"... :] [burn psp, burn!! XD] LOL, i saw that too XD insane... Same as here... and thoose home / handheld consoles are very expensive in my country, so i don't think the PSP is become a bestseller thing in hungary... LOÁÁÁL... have a nice day! XDDD

omg, knarly. thats half your gaming time gone already. You know what Sony's followers are gonna say about that don't you? The same thing happened when the ps1 came out. Nintendo and Sega fans were attacking the console for it's often lenghty loading times, and the fact that it was '32-bit' making it less powerful than the 64. With that in mind, Sony released a console chav's and chavettes could buy, and because there are more chav scum around than normal people who like to have their brain kept intact by not listening to Rap or Dance/Trance at brain damaging volume. This resulted in the playstation brand becomming a brand name, or, something that by wearing, made you look cool, apparently, but everyone knows this.
Chavs = non-original gamers who think they're hard, and wear branded clothing. Usually flock in large groups to bully people, so they don't get beaten up themselves.
By time of writing, My GBASP has been on for 26 hours, without an adapter being plugged in. I bet PSP wouldn't last that long, ever. Can you even remove PSP's batteries without hacking the unit apart?

I heard Sony will release a "better" battery for PSP (of course - not for free...). So I think yes... BTW, my friend found a very _intersting_ picture. That's a screenshot from Dokodemo Issho - that's a "tamagochi" form game, with cute cats, cute dogs, cute blabla... He understand the Japanese language, so he translated that script. And waaah, that's damn funny! XDD There is a typing error in the circled area, he said XD;; I don't want to write down that sentence... it has got it's own reason (: It can be funny for the people, those who understand Japanese stuff (e.g. teh yoshi), i think... (((: [if it's readable] PSP is not for children! :Đ
