I hope more people see your post Toshi, because it proves a fantastic point. I, too, have noticed that Yoshi's Corner has seemingly revived in the last few weeks to something wonderful again. I mean, it could still use a lot of progression, that is for sure, but the activity here has increased a hundred-fold in the last few weeks.
When I came home from my mission, and saw the looming death that stood over the Y.C., I started to lose a lot of hope and optimism for its growth. However, just as you said, in the last few weeks, it has grown rapidly, with veterans returning, and new members joining. I have hope again with this place, and I believe that it will continue to grow into the glorious Y.C. that we knew in the past.
I do believe that it will last, and continue to grow, if we continue to put that effort in ourselves.

First day of classes my prof drops a 7,000 page reading packet that we have to do on top of our standard readings for the semester. I can't wait!

I ate at a fancy steakhouse to celebrate my mom's birthday. In some private room in the back, I could hear a lot of rowdy guys having a good time. When the dinner was over, some guy came out of the room and asked the dining room if anybody could play the piano. My whole family pretty much pointed fingers at me. Mind, this is a $40 a plate kind of restaurant, and here I am wearing my tattered "Goonie Rides!" shirt and basketball shorts while everyone around me looked like they were scheduled for a job interview. As it turns out, there were about 40 guys in that room seated at a large banquet table, eating and drinking, assuming that this must be some bachelor's party, young in the night, and everybody on a buzz. I was escorted by the main guy to a nearby grand piano to play for the whole room. I must've had butterflies squirming through my veins because I couldn't stop jittering as I began playing piano for the rowdy crowd. I decided to play these songs: Rustle of Spring by Christian Sinding, O Say Can Yoshi by Karl Harmdierks, and Dire, Dire Docks from Super Mario 64 as an encore. I think one of the guys recognized the song Dire, Dire Docks, and screamed from the back of the room, "Hey, play Zelda next!", although everyone in the room seems to be in their late 20s, early 30s. Needless to say, everyone applauded and I was tipped $25 for playing piano for a good ten minutes. One of the more utterly random events that ever occurred as of late. Oh yeah, I gave a high five to everybody across the long banquet table as I walked out of the room.

Sounds like you had a blast, John! As for me, my first day of college is tomorrow. I'm only taking two classes--Welding from Monday 'til Friday at a tech college and Creative Writing I on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Northwest Florida State. That means I have a three day weekend. That's pretty awesome. I really want a job, now, though. I'd like to attend Kurtis' and Anjil's wedding if I can, and if I have a job, that just might be possible by next year. Meanwhile, I'd also like to finally get a PS3, especially with Assassin's Creed II coming out. It looks absolutely spectacular, check out this gameplay video: assassinscreed.us.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/#/video/5707And this other trailer is impressively made: assassinscreed.us.ubi.com/assassins-creed-2/#/video/5691What I really like about it is that it's set in Italy. And Leonardo Da Vinci is an important character. It looks more promising than the first one was (or what I've seen and heard of it, anyway). Anyway, I'm still a little nervous about college, but I'm also pretty excited. It's probably the Welding class that's making me nervous, if nothing else. All that heat and metal. I'm not used to that kind of thing. But, you live and learn.

I have to say that that is very cool, teh. I play the piano too, but not very well. :/ I'm not consistent with it; I play a lot one week then not play at all the next two or three weeks.
I start school tomorrow, and unlike all you college people, I'm still in high school! =D It's my last year though, so I'll be starting college next year. And most of my classes I'm taking this year are for college credit anyways. >_> I'm so not ready to go back though... I mentioned it in my coming back thread, but I had a very major surgery recently. On my chest. And it's pretty painful and pretty hard for me to be sitting up for more than an hour or two. So going back is going to be very hard for me. :<
In other, better news, there's a thunderstorm in my town today. I love thunderstorms. ^^

Best of luck with your studies and your college application process!
As for me, I just moved in to college, and everything is absolutely fantastic right now... well, except for the fact that we have a ton of stupid stuff to do that isn't even a part of our classes, but I guess that's what a freshman gets, right?

I was at work yesterday morning, 6am start as usual. I didn't feel very well when I went in, but I figured it was just me being pretty exhausted for once. About 2hrs into the shift, I started to feel worse, I got a headache and my muscles and joints started to hurt, but as I went to collect flat mail, it happened. I collapsed in the middle of the office. After about 30 minutes, they sent me home early, and this is where it all begins. I started to feel ill all day, my head wanted to burst open, I felt tired, chilly, and all my body parts were in pain. I'd also thrown up about three times that day too, but not your ordinary vomit, no no, this was bile.
So later that day at around 9pm, I headed to bed to enjoy a night of restlessness, and I had to wake up at 5am to get ready for work, but I thought "Sod it", there was no way in hell I was going to work in my state, so I've called in on the sick today, explaining what had happened. So this is why I'm here at this time, typing this out.
I headed back to bed, but I woke up about 30 minutes ago, my mother had been on the phone to the NHS Healthline. She explained what was going on with me, the chills, fever, upset stomach, headache, aching joints and muscles etc. and they were able to confirm what was wrong with me.
Ladies and gentlemen, Toshi has Swine Flu.

So I was back at work today, glad to be back since being isolated in my room for the past few days over the Swine Flu drove me insane.
I don't have much else to say other than thanks for the support through the hard time from those who actually gave a damn (applies to non-ycers too), some people did get a bit worried about the situation, I had one friend who thought I was going to die from it, haha, what a silly guy. Though yes, thanks again, and that is all.

Oh man, what a day XD. I woke up at 4:00 A.M. to go paint-balling with my friends, which I have actually never done before. We played for 12 hours, and I had a blast XD. It was a blast! I had so much fun, but it definitely was painful at times XD. My friends even got me a gun, ammo, an air tank, mask, etc. for me, since I didn't have any money. I loved it, even though I didn't do exactly the best XD.

After a night of partying and fun, I woke up the next morning with a hangover. And the swine flu. I'm going to the emergency room today so my boyfriend will stop freaking out. Speaking of him, earlier this morning I was cold so I cuddled up next to him in bed. He reacted to this by punching me in the face and pushing me away. I fell off the bed. Apparently he's used to sleeping alone. I still love college.

Damn, feel better Fluory...
I just had a blast last night with a tv cast and crew I recently became a part of over at my college. Coincidentally enough, we are a video game review show, and of course, the party for after our first taping of the season was based around video games. We spent over three hours playing the WWF: No Mercy for N64, and did a little Mario Party as well. Sounds pretty stupid and geeky, but the best part of it all was just who was there, so it was great!

Swine Fluory.
Sorry, I had to do that. :C
I've been wondering where you've been! And your boyfriend seems like a contradicting fellow. I imagine it something like this: "Oh my God you have Swine Flu augh, God, please don't take her awaaaay!" to "OMG GTFO!"
Well, hang in there! Ollie made it out just fine, I'm sure you will, too. I'm glad all this hasn't affected your feelings for college, I'm in love with my classes, too. ;D Are you restricted from attending until you're better?

Hey Shoe!
The flu isn't as bad as they make it sound. Like I'm sure you all know, it's pretty much just a normal flu. I'm feeling a lot better today. My fever broke yesterday night so I'm cleared for going to classes tomorrow, thankfully. Here you can't leave your room except for emergencies until your fever has been lower than 100 degrees for 24 hours.
He certainly is a contradictory guy. His advice cracks me up. "You shouldn't stay in bed, you should move around." "Okay, so can I go to dinner with you guys." "No you should rest."

I had similar "advice" from my Step-father, he told me I shouldn't stay in bed all the time, but when he saw me on my computer a couple hours later, he contradicted himself with "You should be in bed, resting" And yes, Swine Flu is just like normal Flu, though I can't say because, oddly enough, I never, ever, caught the Flu before in my life.
