I've done this on my DA poll, now I'm bringing it here, what be yer favourite music genre? EDIT: So we don't get loads of "other" votes, just vote for the closest unless it is different. For example if your favourite Genre is Punk Rock, just vote Rock. If it's Death Metal, vote metal. If it's Fundamentalist Christian Rap, vote Rap (I'm not making that up, it's a real genre of music!)

Rock is the best! I listen to it the most. I don't mind listening to classical, though.

Rock and roll oldies, some pop, Japanese pop, and then techno isn't that bad. ..Actually, techno is more boring than anything. Video game music, I suppose -- although I'm not really sure why people insist on calling it "video game music", since that's a really diverse genre then. So I like and hate certain areas of that.
But rock and roll oldies forevaaaaar.

This is an interesting thing; it always comes in so many forms. The question that is, for it seems that the diffrent catagories of music are always growing. Choosing between them is a chore of itself, merely because it fully at times can depend on mood and how the melody is swinging.
In this current state of things, one of the highest catagories finds itself to be that of Dance. Of course, in other situations it might wrap around Rock; it's fully dependant on how the world is turning. Dance of course, might be molded around Techno and that sensation. One reason this is chosen, is merely in the token of it's beat. One major point that makes a song, is the tone that it can set in your chest. Not only does it's tune sound to your ear; but it also matters internally. If you can feel a beat going through your body, then the song has some matter to it after all. Techno, for odd reasons; while without words in basic form, has a tendancy to be very strong. Perhaps; it's based on the construction it keeps with time. Out of nearly every style of "music", Techno is the most driven by signatures and notes. It takes a lot of skill to put it together, and it must require patience. For, you have to make sure to keep a strong and steady section, while constantly alternating others. Heck, it also appears that there are many who outdo the beats and rests in these pieces. Turning them into a slurring mess of nonstop bams and whacks. Of course, it's not all shuddering; for in essence, it actually gives a great thumping in the heart, causing the listener to become heavily involved.
Rap on the other hand, falls to its knees for many obvious reasons. One to be stated, is in the mention that Rap is nothing more but a very large flaunting of stereotypes. There is hardly any other type of music that shows off so many negative forms of a "race" as this one does. Of course, that is not meant in a negative form; it's just that, there are hardly any positive messages in that group. Further on, the words and lyrics are a mess; something meant for the uneduated. They usually flow in the mass of society, focusing on something that "makes you cool", like "drugs" "sex" or "killin' da cops". When, in a matter of speaking, none of these subjects really seem to hold any ground. Yet, they expand in our youths minds. We see them, walking to and fro; their pants falling off their waist. Each of them, holding some sort of shiny metal in their hand, dainted on every single finger. Their teeth littered with a "silver like glaze" which is nothing more but cheep foil made to look like millions. All of this, a part of pop culture; a culture that is only deroding, far from aiding in creation. If the Ghetto life is as bad as they say it is, then why do they publicize it; if it made them "hard", and gave them "a loss of friends and family", why do they publically announce it into the world? That, and they also batter the English language; sure, our tongue is constantly undergoing alterations. But having it be scultped into this mess is lunacy; it's unfair, it's not right. It's like speaking in "n00b", but only in reality; as if spelling and grammar mean nothing. It's to make life easier, but by realism; shortening a word does not deter it's meaning. You only move your lips less, it has no respect.
Rock, regardless of anything has always held a good fence in society. Of course, it can't be denied that rock has held similar themes with "Hate" "Sex" and "Drugs". Of course though, they don't really batter the English Language. Further more, the beats and the steady work of things go forward. It doesn't terrorize society, but in a small plate you really can't shove it away from rap. Trying to be a rocker, hating rap is very difficult. But, opinion wise, Rock sounds much better than Rap could even extend into. Rap is but a small portion, and should be eliminated. That is, however, nothing more but a dream.

Out of all of the genres of music, I would have to go with Death Metal. Bet you didn't see that one coming. TRIPLE BONUS MULTIPLIER ! ! But yes, it is my favorite genre of music. You can't go wrong with some nice Korn, Disturbed, Metallica, and Godsmack. Very preferable to these sucky new bands with no talent. Kind of like the majority of rappers. Simply my opinion, though...
But yeah. You can clearly see/hear the talent of rock bands that move their fingers at ten million miles an hour to play their songs, and don't sound like dying whales. Heh. That was rather mean.

Korn, Disturbed, Metallica, and Godsmack.
Metallica? Death Metal? Unless you're just listing metal bands and that's not death or something. Good band choices there. Also can't go wrong with some Exodus, Slayer, Arch Enemy or Slipknot. Then there's power metal like Dragonforce, that's pretty awesome too. And great post too Contention, rap does suck immencely =D

Rock, Metal, & Techno are my main ones, country is OK, while Rap is somewhat, well, it depends on what rapper. I'm not much into Rap, since well, what Contention stated, is that reason, also, it does change a lot of people if they pay attention to it way too much(No offense), and cause them to have a negative personality sometimes, which is why I have problems in school with those guys. I'm also into a bit of Japanese Pop, a little, well, a bit. Just asking: Music is Music, right? It doesn't matter who listens to it, right? I'm asking this for your opinions.

Just asking: Music is Music, right? It doesn't matter who listens to it, right? I'm asking this for your opinions. Stereotypes make the world go round. Rap - Gangsta black man (or wiggers/chavs) Rock - Stoners Metal - Long haired moshers Dance - Partyers Classical - Aristocrat and high social status etc. etc. It doesn't matter who listens to what, but with the stereotpyes people use it to find the kind of person you are.
