So, what do you see when you look at Yoshi, personality-wise? I see many many things. First, I see a noble-hearted creature, who is capable of becoming a very loyal friend, more loyal than any human can become (like a dog maybe?). I see a creature that would never do any harm to anyone, except when his own life or a loved one's life is in danger. I see, a creature that can never feel anger or display agression (he would never make this face: ) I see a creature that is willing to go to great lengths to help others, who is willing to help without expecting something in return. I see a creature that is friendly to every other living thing, a creature that cares about the happiness of others around him. I see a creature that does not need any material posessions or the admiration of others to be happy. In short, I see in Yoshi quite the opposite of what the human race is. (Please do NOT assume I'm 'imposing' my view of Yoshi, this is just my own very personal opinion and it is not meant to be disagreed or even agreed to). Some people see strength in Yoshi; I do not, because strength can only be used to do damage. Some say he never gives up; I don't think that's reasonable, because there are some problems out there that do not depend on oneself, and thus not giving up would be, in a word, stupid... Due to his many different roles in so many videogames, everybody sees something different in Yoshi. If he had been in only 1 game, then it would have been much easier to have a common view of him. So, what do you see in Yoshi?

Well being a Boshi, I like nothing of him. But, being a person impersinating Boshi, i like Yoshis big nose! It gives him a unique quality to the character (you try talking to a person with a gigantic nose) but it also alows him to smell good with it too. I like how he is loyal, like Yoshi Soul said, and , again like yoshi soul said, Noble hearted. Heart of Gold!

I see a gigantic manifestation of cuteness, happiness, and other such attributes. Personally, I think a Yoshi could very well be mad and have a mad expression. However, I think it'd be hard to get one that way. But if you did, cover your fac because you'd get the boot of your lifetime!

I see Yoshi as a very caring and nurturing soul. Normally living a "carefree" lifestyle, will get into the thick of it to help out friends.

Well, I feel like I should be original in saying this, but I can't, because pretty much, Yoshi Soul read my mind. I don't really know what else to say, other than I do kind of see Yoshi having strength, but also having large amounts of self-control at the same time. Saying that Yoshi does not have strength makes him look weak, and therefore would've most likely turned down entering a Smash Bros. tournament or something . But you see him in there, no? And don't you, Soul and Fifth, choose Yoshi the most to fight with? I can see strength within Yoshi in that, no? Even if you can pretend those tournaments never took place, I still see strength in Yoshi, for he fought hard and well for the well-being of Baby Mario against Baby Bowser and his minions in Yoshi's Island.

Hm... Interesting question. I don't know if I can express an answer in words just yet... Believe me, what I wrote up there was virtually nothing. I could just go on and on... but am not truly prepared just yet.

I see in him far too much to express in words. Yoshi Soul and Teh Yoshi covered everything of him. I like everything about him, his will to do what is right, his courage, his hidden strength, his courtsey, his friendly expressions, his happy, laid-back life, his non-aggresive personality, his charming behavior, his cute looks, his kindness, his mentality, his abilities, oh and ever much much more to express in mere words.

But, as an intelligent and sentient being, I can see some Yoshis as being corrupted b the same things that plague humanity, just to not quite as big an extent... It's quite foolish to think that any race with intelligence would livei n Utopia, even in an underdeveloped state.

Graedius is right. Yoshis have knowledge, right? And having more knowledge leads to less happiness in the world for having knowledge strips away our innocence, forcing to see the world how it really is, its balances, both good and bad. With knowledge, you will be very concerned with your surroundings, and probably find no time for happiness. However, given that Yoshi's Island is remote and that there has been no corruption on it after defeating Baby Bowser should mean that the peaceful Yoshis living on that island will always remain happy as long as they do not receive any new and alienated knowledge. Of course, this may seem ignorant of the Yoshis, but that's the only way to achieve utopia. Has anybody ever seen the movie Pleasantville? It's about a perfect black and white utopian society torn apart because of knew knowledge spreading around Pleasantville by these two new kids who entered it, altering and/or corrupting minds, thus changing society altogether containing the balance of good and bad (the society gains color over black and white).

I've always seen Yoshi as sort of the embodiment of everything I love and respect about animals. Like, that sort of symbiotic relationship between two different species? The kind that one commonly sees in the pet/owner relationship? The pet usually has an outstanding loyalty for the owner, and provides kindness and affection in return for the same, and will enjoy the mere company of the owner. I mean, of course the owner feeds the pet, but that's really do insignificant; it's about the Platonic companionship of the two for one another. And, unless the owner's a real jerk, the feelings are usually mutual.
So, um, that kind of symbiotic affection is basically what I admire in Yoshi... I think... I've never been great at explaining things... ...anyway, I'll post more once I can organize another bundle of thoughts together.

Umm...I don't think when I first saw Yoshi all those years ago that it was his personality that made me like him. Heck, back in those days, he didn't have much of a personality anyways; he was just a two-bit dino that could carry Mario around. I first saw and fell in love with him because I am a real reptile lover. I love dinosaurs, geckos, lizards, snakes...and the horrible thing is, nearly every storybook/video game/cereal portrays reptiles as the bad guys. -_-* I think Yoshi was the only real reptillian character that was on the good guys side, thus making me like him. n_n Of course, I love Bowser and Koopas too...but...you see what happened there. <=]
Personality-wise, I just see a little helpful dino buddy for Mario. Nothing majorly deep at all....he just seems like a happy, cheery kinda character. Perhaps a bit clutzy too, especially when around food. n_n But that may be because I don't think Yoshi has been given the most clear of personalities. Eh...I probably sound stupid saying that, but its what I think. <=] Plus, hes cute. Who cannot say that he isn't cute? n_n
