Who would like to travel to Japan?
Who is seriously determined to go there someday?
Why do you want to go there?
Or would you rather visit a different country?

Very strange and out-of-the-blue questions. Anyway... Yes, I would like to travel there some day. I'm not that determined, nor do I know who is. I would like to go there because I hear it's extremely different from here in the U.S. I like to welcome completely new cultures and atmospheres. I wouldn't exactly RATHER visit another country, but I'd like to visit other countries anyway. I don't care much which, I'm not that picky. As for learning Japanese, I'm not too much interested. However, if I could somehow learn it for free and it won't get in the way, then why no? The reason is that a lot of people at my school like to pretend they know Japanese, or scribble down words repeatedly they remember from their Japanese friends or cartoons. I also would like to be a little more original than that, that's why I'm more interested in learning Korean, because I never see anyone who is non-Korean at least knows little Korean  . I also like how the Korean written language is very easy. I learned how to read and write in about 5 hours. I do, however, must admit that the Japanese written language looks very beautiful, and speaking it sounds nice and pleasing. It would be a major plus to learn those languages. |

Are you kidding? Thats basically my dream goal in life.
I would love to travel to Japan, and someday in the next few years its looking possible...I am determined to go there so I can learn the language, and...I don't know...theres just something about Japan that I can't quite put my finger on why I like it. The language and culture I find wonderful, as is the animation and modern aspect of it. I don't know why, Japan just makes me feel giddy thinking about it.
I don't think I'd ever thought about going anywhere else...possibly France, I've been there numerous times, and I have to say I do enjoy it there. n_n But its not quite as amazing to me as Japan. As for learning Japanese, I would love to. Problem is, I decided that as I learn French at school already, it would be too confusing to learn that AND self-teach myself Japanese, so I thought it would be best to wait until I'm outta school for good before I commit myself to another language. But the thing that made me most pleased was when my languages teacher said I have a nice way with speaking different laguages, and that I could very well be a linguist when I'm older. n_n* Thats kinda made me feel a bit more at ease with learning something completely different...and also, French and Japanese are in actual fact quite similar languages, in terms of vocabulary, anyways. I find French pretty ok, so I can't wait to start teaching myself Japanese. =]

I'm not that dtermined to go there.
I wamt to go there because i think it would be interesting.
I would not rather go to another country but i would like to go.

--I'm VERY determined. In fact, me and my mom were thinking of going back whenever we get the money!
--I wanna go to visit my old family friends and see my old neighborhood. I wanna see how everything changed and how my old school buddies are doing now. And i wanna visit Tokyo again! From what i remember, it was very beautiful, especially at night.
--I'd like to visit other countries such as Italy, Spain, India, and China. I'd think that Japan is the 2nd country on my list of places i'd like to visit. The Philippines being the 1st.
--I'm always interested in learning a new language! Japanese again being the 2nd language on my list of languages i would like to learn. Tagalog being the 1st. My friends say i have a knack for learning a new language just 'cause i do good in Spanish class. That's just what they think. I've been teaching myself to write Japanese a little. But, I've only gotten as far as learning how to write my name and other random words in Katakana and Hiragana:P And i know only the VERY basics of Japanese (please, thank you, etc.)

Ahh, Anjil Yoshi, so you are Japanese, I'm assuming?
Anyway..
I really want to travel to Japan. The cities there are equivelant and even better than NYC, I have heard. The technologoy = AMAZING. A lot of luxuries that I love come from Japan. Sushi, Nintendo... cars.. including LEXUS. I am not really interested in learning Japanese.. but I'm pretty sure I could do it. I learned Chinese, after all. How much harder could Japanese be?

i'd love to travel to japen if i could. I really like anime alot. aswell as thier language. what i would do to learn japeneese. (you could probably guess why i like anime so much.) but aside from that. I'll tell you this. once i reach my goal of becoming airliner pilot. I'll definlatly try to fly a flight departing to japan.

Very strange and out-of-the-blue questions. Why must you always think negatively of everything that is slightly unusual?? I was just trying to make the board a little more fun by posting a new thread. But if you prefer then I'll try not to make any new threads again, if they're going to annoy you. French and Japanese are in actual fact quite similar languages, in terms of vocabulary, anyways. W00t!  Sorry but I think they're EXTREMELY different! I think Japanese is more similar to Spanish than to French. French pronunciation is very unique and unlike any other language. I feel I would have a very tough time learning French or German. But I really enjoy learning Japanese. Unfortunately I haven't had time to learn any significant amount of it. As for learning to write it, I would never be able to write it correctly since I would also need to know the entire chinese alphabet, which is huge! AnjilYoshi is Japanese?! *admires her a lot more now, just because of that* ^^!! WOW!! Now, my own answers: I am determined to go to Japan as soon as I save $1,000 (which will be very hard, being a full time student) and at least in 1 more year. I need $700 just for the airplane ticket, and $300 for spending. I know someone who goes to Japan every year, so I'll go with him to save some money. After Japan I would like to go to Italy. And then maybe France, U.K. or Germany. |

heheheh, actually, no, I'm not Japanese:P I'm Asian, but not Japanese. I'm actually Filipino:) I lived in Japan for about 5 years when i was younger 'cause my dad used to be in the navy. I lived in Yokohama for about 2 years and then moved to a navy housing in Negishi for about 3 years. My mom and I really wanna go back and see our old friends! But, since my family is still a bit behind in paying off our mortgage, bills, etc., it probably won't be for a while. Perhaps some years after i graduate.

French Spanish and Italian do have quite a bit in common (with the gender of words, and they are derived from Latin). Check out this site. Oh yes, I forgot to add that I too would like to visit Japan. It's seems very ineteresting/different from the "world" I'm used to. Also seeing a lot of the things coming out of it, I'd like to take a first hand look to get a better understanding. |

Hehe, if I didn't know much about either language, I would've thought they were completely different. But I get confused between the two, seeing as alot of the words, despite being spelt different, do sound bizarrely the same. Boku, beaucoup, ja na, jamais...seriously, I find them in fact quite similar. Add to that also the order of subject-object-verb too, which they both use, and you'll see the similarities. n_n
German is apparently really easy...but I find it quite difficult. n__n* So I just learn French instead, bwahaha. ;D
As for Spanish...I don't know a word of Spanish, so I can't really opinionize on that. <=D

I do not understand how "boku" and "beaucoup" are similar. They are written completely differently, and they don't have the same meaning. (or at least I don't think they do). If you were to relate languages this way, then EVERY language would be similar to every other language. All you'd have to do is write words that have no similarity other that how they sound. Examples: pan (Japanese, means bread); pan (English, refers to a cooking instrument) hai (Japanese, means yes), hay (Spanish, means 'are') manga (Japanese, means 'comic strip'), manga (Spanish, means sleeve) rei (Japanese, means zero), rey (Spanish, means king) A lot of Japanese words mean something in Spanish, but they almost always have a different meaning. (And some of the meanings are nasty! LOL!). As for Spanish...I don't know a word of Spanish, so I can't really opinionize on that. <=D I can speak Spanish... Better than English in fact... No, they aren't annoying. I don't mind them. I didn't mean to be negative. Sorry if you took it the wrong way . If I did take it negatively, that's all what you would find in my last post, and not me answering the questions. My apologies once again. Thank you... I didn't say they were similar in terms of meaning, I said they sound[/u] similar. Of course they're not gonna be the same words, hehe. And I realise that there are other languages that have same words...I was just saying how I thought French and Japanese sound uncannily alike, being someone whos learnt French for four years, and only just started Japanese. =]

Hey! That's also "bread" in Spanish and Tagalog (in some dialects, anyway)! Sorry, just wanted to add that, heehee ^^; Hehe, that's partly the reason i wanna learn Italian. If you know Spanish, you can easily learn Italian. i.e.

Italian: Benvenuto | Italian: Amore
English: Welcome | English: Love |

Yeah, like Spanish is very similar to Italian, so is German very similar to English...  For example: German: Brot..............English: Bread German: Tiger.............English: Tiger hehe... German: Willkommen.....English: Welcome German: Blau..............English: Blue And there are so much more words meaning the same! ;D Oh and for our tagalog speaking friends: "Swiss" German: Hoi............Tagalog: Hoy English: Hello / Hi So many languages, so many cultures!
