I spent an hour just making up the name "Yoshiken Draconi" tho XD. and for future reference, its pronounced "Yosh-ee-kinn" not "Yosh-ee-kenn" ^^. I've sat at the 'Nickname your captured Pokemon' screen for sometimes over an hour, trying to think of a good name to represent the Pokemon in question o.o As you can see, every aspect of a character's appareance, name, etc. matters highly to me, regardless of who sees it.

Twi has a huge history behind him, at least 5 forms I think. I suppose I first wanted a yoshi character after making aquaintences with Toshi, who is now a great friend to me after almost a year. So around July last year I got down designing my own Yoshi character. I'd always liked yoshi so this seemed the way forward for me.
First Design (July '05) This was really just a basic Light-blue yoshi with yellow spikes and saddle. It had a slight purple glow round the eyes which was it's main thing, but I didn't think of much of a story for him. The name "Twilight Yoshi" was his main name, leading on to be shortened to "Twiloshi". After a while I got bored of Twi I and, seeing many light-blue yoshis, decided for a more unique design. The light blue was removed bringing in a new colour....
Second Design (July '05/August '05) A brought in a new grey for Twi II, keeping the yellow spikes but opting for a red saddle and brown shoes. This really happened at the end of July and start of august. This design didn't last long as, again, no story. I started to develop a gradual story, but in the end I opted for an evil yoshi..
Third Design (August '05) Here came in the Twi III which my final designs were based upon. Firstly the colour became a really dark grey (not black because I couldn't draw a black outline and black colour without ruining the picture) and the Purple eyes, which I found was really unique at the time. Basic shoes and spikes of dark blue, saddle also dark blue. At the time I wanted Twi in armour but found it too time-consuming to get it right. This design also had a cape, which on my DA avatar is the design before the hair came in a few month later.
Fourth Design (January '06) This idea for Twi came rather later, but is one of my favourites. By this time the name "Twi" was clearly defined as my main name. This was a meer improvement on Twi III. Twi IV had hair, long hair, purple. It seemed to me Twi needed some hair, earlier designes included a spiked saddle, but they were quickly dismissed. This longer hair was also combined with his History of "The Twilight Project" which is long and I haven't much time to explain it fully. Later, the idea for "Demonic Twi" was formed, which incorperated a mutated claw and teeth and the 11"6 height. This idea was only shown once in an RP with Toshi but it remained hidden and meerly mentioned. More recently, an RP with Gar shows this demonic form too. Other things in this idea was gloves and newer shoes, and I ditched the cape.
Fifth Design (May '06) A meer month ago sees the latest incarnation of Twi, which is shown in my most recent pictures. It came up in a convosation with my mate Chad talking about my Demonic form. We thought it'd be cool to incorperate the mutated claw into the normal form. It worked great so it remains today. This really makes the history of Twi more meaningful, and now that the history is finalised in it's basic forms (RPs change some things every now and then) it seemed right to have this claw. A defined height was also included here: 6"6'. Twi personallity is nothing like me at all, Twi is quiet but some RPs a making him for likeable in some respects. He's not truly emotionless but isn't that emotional at all. The cape returned as a shoulder cape which is always cool. The Scythe was clearly a better choice than a spear, so that was his weapon. Twi V is what is seen today and I doubt I'll be changing his design any time soon.
The name Twilight Yoshi came from...well I don't know. Twilight seems a mysterious word and Yoshi is...yoshi. Twi is just shortened, which is basically his new real name, which is kinda cool. There isn't much in future for the design of Twi. I may draw him in enchanted armour, but I'm lazy so it may not be for a while.
Well that's Twi, the spawning of a years imagination.

I'm a still trying to get a name that means something to me...and it is very difficult. If you know me, I am always changing. (Now my memory is returning) My first forum name was Yoshi4ever, and I used the name Yoshi Sage in my first RP. A number of other Rp chars came along, as i told you about in the other post. Yoshi4ever stuck for a long time, but i later changed it when someone joined who had their name Yoshi4evr, it was just to confusing. I didn't like the number in the name anyways. Then came Eternity Yoshi, which i still am considering. A royal blue yoshi with a hint of purple who had geometric designs across his skin. His eyes were blue orbs. It has the same feel as the name i bore for so long, which does mean something to me. It reminds me that the memories of this place, bonded by friendship and a common interrest, will always live somewhere in my heart.
As for Krasath, it is more of a Rp char then a alter-ego. The name was something out of imagination, and truely has no roots in me. I've already begun to consider going back to Eternity Yoshi, and the name would represent me more. A lot of old members here don't remember me because i changed my name so many times lol.

Hey, I still know who you are <_>
Of course I like to change my name a lot these days too :B
Still though, I made British exclusively for an RP, I don't really make much use of him other than that unfortunately, I probably should do something... Still though. I was looking to make a guy who was interesting to me, but probably in the process I just created a cliched almost renegade kind of guy. Oh Well. I like him enough~
Moot on the other hand... I don't know where the hell he came from.

Mine was made up when I wanted to join this other message board place. I looked over it and saw that the cool people were doing it, and I wanted to be cool too. Basically a compilation of four things I enjoy: Battlemechs, Battleships, LASERs, and Politics. Apperance and name were tossed together in under 15 minutes, which I think is a record for me. The personality and abilites were made under a backdrop of being " different." Basically everyone else had super-power-special-magical-judo-marksman-Troute-Magique-weilding-immortal-god characters and I didn't want any of that. I didn't think it was fun being able to blow up n objects at will, and didn't enjoy having the unique qualities based on a doo-rag or aforementioned Troute Magique. He's supposed to be an extension of myself, only much more extreme with a few extra differences thrown in for variety. Character itself has changed little over time.

I stuck Y4ever in my sig, no more confusion...lets hope it lasts lol. To bad Joshi left (quite mysteriously, I asked this in a thread, someone said he just didn't have enough time. But why is his profile deleted?) Yeah, those were the good ol' days. When you knew everyone. You have to miss that. Our board is being threatened by something new, to many members. Now with tim gone (is he still around even) and soul also. This is quite complicated. We don't need a board constitution anymore, we need a board that is smaller! I know i'm getting off-topic, but this is a issue that needs to be addressed, but it seems we can't do much about it. I think this board is going to grow whether we want it to or not. Though, maybe i am wrong. Most of the members are inactive, or just noobs who came here and posted about 10 times, then left. I'm glad Yoshiken, Graedius, (i can finally spell his name without checking lol, I had difficulty with the spelling when i first knew him) Yoshee, red, teh, we still have a lot of old members (I know, if i didn't list you it didn't mean i forgot, I just slapped a couple down). Lets just pray that this board doesn't get to overpopulated. Its good to be bonded by friendship and common interest instead of just being apart of a large group.

You know you actually bring up something that is diffrent from many things; don't worry about going off there for a minute, after such just let it roll on to what it was, the statement given was appealing though. However, the probelm you are adressing seems to be something that has been caught by a lot of the older members you speak of. It's something they seem to discuss from time to time, that type of inevitable feeling when things begin to move on and change. You also mentioned the name of Joshi and why he happened to leave, and you strike up a good point when you say that it was quite mysterious. The true reasons behind his decison were focused on some type of feelings he had against the ways the Moderation was run here. However, this was his own choice that he took into the bane of his hands. Since that time he went on to other things, leaving behind the board in an effort to do something else with his life. He is still out there, and still avaible if you wish to speak with him at all; those days are gone now though, and drastically diffrent from what he once felt. One of the pressing reasons that he has implanted into a newer era, something out of the ordinary; away from the turning corners of this own place. You also mentioned something there about the size of it's walls and how it has grown drastically over time.
Well, it seems there could be many reasons why aplitudes like such would be focused. Imagine it, in a way, that this forum over time has gained more than just it's own set of popularity. We as humans are connected to a numerous amount of people; we share our stories and we tell of our adventures. The more we speak to, the more that comprehend what it is we exactly wrap ourselves up with. Therefore, things will expand because it happens in the effort of, "You tell your friends and they tell their friends, so on and so forth". You can not stop the waters from rolling over the beaches of the older days. Sure the knots in those times might have been tighter, but that was merely because the board itself was smaller. This place was constructed on the backs of allies, those who knew each other and cared about each other. Yet, as times started to slip away, so did the feelings of each alone. Everyone grew, and in the fact of gaining new age they began to understand new things. As all human beings, eventually we all grow a bit of a sour tooth toward another. Thus begins another chapter in the history of this board. While the Moderation might be ensued to know one another, that does not mean everyone is on a same thinking level as they were. We learn about the people we spend time with, we are given pieces of their lives. These can be things at time that change us, alter us, move us in diffrent directions from what it all began as.
The issue you state about overpopulation is something that has been given by many mouths. This board is no longer focused on friendships but more about belonging to nothing more but a false name. The people here do not act like themselves, they only agree with others because they want to feel like they are part of the picture. They don't take into consideration whom they are to begin with, they only want that piece of popularity; a section of some power that trully doesn't matter. When more members join somewhere, the roots will start to rot and what once was will be pushed aside. It seems the game floor is now open to moving upwards, not about getting to know those around you. This place is led in a stirrup of emotions, crazed feelings about being number one. There is that phrase about doing things to please yourself, well in this place it now seems to be issued on doing things to please others. Why do they want to make others happy? Merely to gain some sort of respect, respect that fades when they leave this monitor and go to actions that commence in their own personal affairs. The past can never be forgotten, however it can be lost and misconstrued from the eyes of those that join. No one understands how it was or really takes that into consideration. Be glad that you were he in those days in which you could feel like everyone was a friend and that all was together; for they to pass, as do all things, and as shall one day this board fall to it's own demise. Everything has to find it's own ending, everyone and every place.
So while things might not feel like they were, at least you have the memory of how everything was connected. People dream of returning the board to it's old days; but that is impossible and imaginable. Merely because of how many keep running into it, with the more on their horizon it seems hard to hold onto the fact of looping them in. Of course, efforts will always be made for unity, but as something continues to alter, the changes made to it will need to as well. You have grown, you have matured, just as much as everyone who first began here did. If things could go back, it would be wonderous to them all; you would also lose anything gained now. It's a win-lose situation in nearly all aspects of returning to how the days were spent. While they might be out of sight, at least always remember that they are in your mind. Everyone sees how everybody actually is, everyone understands how gritty the other can get; you learn more about the people you are with the longer you spend with them. Ties are loosened, buttons are ripped away; so comes the ending, so comes the fray.
So in a bit of a question, can the board be fixed to as it was? No, or so it seems by the challange of how much has been moved. Do the people who were here, remember how it was? Yes, bitten on the fact of how much they were given, the happiness they recall. Can the change be stopped, can it be dealt with? No, with so many coming into the picture; the colors are clashing. But the fact that you know of what it was can keep you in grasping at what it once gave, that memory to cherish, something for you to hold. It seems the race isn't about achieving friendship anymore; for anyone, even the older; it seems to be about gaining a spot to stand on. What ever happened to the innocence and the play? Well, it got lost in the adult age. The true culprit is understanding, it's knowledge; now that everyone knows the intentions behind the play, the script doesn't feel the same.
Think about it in the essence of where you live now, sure it's a home that you might have bought or your parents; but do you know the background to the place. The people who first built it? What was their story, was it diffrent then? Was the city you live in changed from what it has become now? Was it safer in the past, was it calmer, gentile? As time goes on, as diffrent generations appear, we forget things and the story gets seperate. But be glad though, at least you have the smiles to remember for how the days were, and for that you can always recall.

A board is not built soley on its old members. New members can contribute just as well as the old ones, it's all in who they are. It is true that not all newcomers to any place on the 'net will exactly be wanted by most, but just saying that 'new members = bad' is not the best way to go about things.
As people grow older or find new interests- any change, really- bonds may break, friendships may become more streteched, and activity or even being in a place for some may change. Some must grow up and take on new responsibilities in the real world, others may have a fading interest in a place. Old members can't stay somewhere forever, and finding friends amongst newcomers is a good way to adapt to the leaving or abscence of older friends.
'Good times' of ages past are over, as nothing ever stays completely the same. So why lament in the 'goodness' of them, and become a little less than happy in the process? It can't be impossible to have good times again, however comparing events to past times is never a good thing to do. Time has a neat way of giving memories a more melancholy cast. Trying at new things with new people is a nice alternative to being a bit bent out of shape about times that are gone.
What makes a new person bad? What makes an old person good? It's all in the personality, intelligence, and things more along those lines, not just the discriminating measure of time. While I don't like noobs or petty attention seekers, not all people on this world that haven't registered here before are like that.
While posts/ers of the less intelligent nature are indeed irritating, what can be done? A board can easily die without new blood. Some possibilities are out there, as such as making a hidden board for the more mature members through the nifty usergroups function on boards and screening. While I think that is a good idea, I have doubts about it being implemented.
However, despite what I've said before on newcomers, that was more of personal feelings towards the subject out of context that might not even apply to what I feel in a more focused area. I believe that smaller communities are the best, and that communities where both the sparse newcomers and old timers are able to smoothly integrate are some of the best out there.
---
Joshi left because he had problems with the board, I believe (more specifically, staffing, as Contention said). He deleted his own account.
---
I always liked characters that could have all these neat attacks. Although these days, for me, it's more of the 'RAINBOW EXPLOSIONS' than the 'WORLD DOMINATION POWERRR' that appeals to me. So most of my characters are based off of designs that appeal to me, and have a meaning to me.
This is why a lot of my characters are pink or rainbow. Or glow and all that. I have troubles liking characters that I struggle to use somehow that don't have a special appeal to me.

I drew a picture of this little chibi looking fella that had these cute little hyper-caffinated eyes (you know the little white circles with a semi think dark ring around them, some what reminiscent of Gluttony from FMA) that had cat ears and long hair parted in the middle. I liked the picture so much, that I ended up drawing a regular-sized version. He eventually became the half-siamese catboy that I know and love as Sirghe.

I guess you could say I just kinda put things on my character, Yonie. I was in a rush to join YC so I kept him simple for the time being. He first started out as just a light blue yoshi, and because of lack of originality, I gave him jackets and stuff of my favorite Nascar driver.
The name, Yonie, was a mispronunciation of the word Yoshi. I used to call yoshi that when I was really little (thats what's bad about hearing things before you read how they are spelled). When I was joining, I couldn't think of a name other than Yonie, so it became my character's name. Also, instead of ending the name similar in spelling to yoshi (which was "Yoni"), I changed it to make it end in the two letters my real name ends in ("Yonie" with the "ie").

Hmm, well it all started about 1 year and 5 months ago. I decided that I needed a character, since Yoshi was my favorite character, I decided it to be an orange Yoshi. After a short while, I felt that he was a bit on the blah side, so I gave him dragon wings. This was my first character he was basically nameless until a few months after I thought of him. Actually, it wasn't until I joined the Nsider forums that I gave him the name, DY, after my username, DESERYOSHI.
After a while, I needed a new character that was a bit more like me, I decided to use an orange Yoshi again, but since I already used one with dragon wings, I decided to make the new one after my heritage, so I gave him a sombrero and a poncho. I still needed a weapon for him, but since I already used a sword, and it just wouldn't seem like he would use a sword, I gave a gun. But it felt as if one gun wasn't enough, so I gave him another one. His personality is a bit like mine. And he needed a name, so I gave him an arrangement of mine (adding an "hi" at the end) to make it sound cool.
And that's how Andreshi came to be, modeled a bit after my first one, giving him a bit of my personlity, and putting some clothes that are cool and true. (Not the best way to say it, but atleast it's the best way I can put it. Curse my way of not being able to explain things clearly)

Ah, it makes me glad to see I'm not the only one who based their character off themselves. I poured a lot of myself into Gar, as he's basically the ultimate representation of how I want to be, and look.
From not only his clothes, to how he fights. I chose mainly light and fire-based magical spells to be his staple because they look cool. It's quite menacing to see a large burst of concentrated light energy shoot from the claw of a dragon. And of course the fire-breathing. However, in an actual fight, these abilities are generally all about psyching the opponent out. They're not quite as potent as they look, and in reality, Gar is far more focused on thwarting abilities or avoiding being hit. As such counterspells and healing and wards are often what he uses. I chose a sword because, well, swords are just so functional. They are overused and rather stereotypical, but a sword can require as much or as little skill as you want. I decided to land him with a broadsword, because it can still do damage without requiring the finesse of, say, a rapier. Or the controlled, thoughtful skill of a Japanese samurai sword. Sometimes he appears with a gun, often a pistol. This is simply another reflection of myself in the fact that whenever I go to a target range, I tend to do rather well. I'm no sure-shot, but I can fire a gun and usually hit what I aim at.
And there you go, more explaination into Gar. ^.=.^

I know what you mean Gar. Garuru is, for all intents and purposes, me. He pretty much embodies everything I am not but wish I was (Strong, confident, outgoing, and sometimes arrogant leader). Garuru really means alot to me; he is more than just a made up character to RP as. Any insult towards him is like a direct insult to me. I plan on modeling my fursuit after him (even the blue vest) when I get the money for it.

What really makes me laugh is that you guys all based your characters off yourselves nearer to the beginning of the characters' lives. I first made up Yoshee as someone completely different than I was, just to be something new. I didn't really like her color, and I gave her a Tennis racquet so she could have a weapon. She had a saddle and regular shoes; just a little girl Yoshi that I could use as an RP character. Later, when Angela Yoshi drew a picture of me, I got my blue shirt. Just recently, I dropped it, because it just didn't really fit her personality. Over time, she gradually became more like me. Short-tempered, grey-eyed, all that stuff. She's still pretty different than me in the strength area, but personality-wise, she's more me than she's ever been before.

Indeed, 'tis what Graedius is to me. He's a part of me that's equally as important as the one you'd see in reality. He's perhaps a part of me that I feel I can only express here, being sort of different from how I act in reality ... he completes me. In physical appearance he's all the perfection I could manifest into one form -- but his height and some physical appearance bits are related to my physical self as well, like height, weight, age, hair color, eye color, etc.
He really has no abilities to speak of. But talents. ;3

Post by Toshi on Jun 26, 2006 6:52:11 GMT -5
The Birth of Toshi and the Rockin' Yoshi's: Well Toshi is one of 6 characters that i designed. Toshi was the character i used for my persona because as well as being the bearer of my fave colour, blue, he seems like he represents me more than the rest of the characters. He displays a lot of my characteristics, one of them being talented in music, as not only does he sing, he plays the Bass guitar, Guitar, Drums, Piano, Oboe, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone etc etc. (Despite the fact i can't sing and most of the talent from some instruments are long gone now, i'll always make Toshi able to have the ability to do so). As i said, he is one of 6 created characters. ---> The Rockin' Yoshi's (Oct 17th 2004) These 6 characters are the base of a band known as the Rockin' Yoshi's. This band represent the band i used to be a part of in real life, yet we broke up because the rest couldn't be fussed to carry on with it anymore. Regardless, i decided to create them. Toshi (singer) Mishi (lead guitarist) Soshi (rhythm guitarist) Seshi(bass guitarist) Kyshi (keyboards and backing vocals) Mutshoshi (drums) The names, except Toshi, were suggested by some Yoshi's Corner members. All different in their unique ways, yet "family" at heart with their own background stories to accompany them. They first appeared as small portraits of themselves (the character designs, shown above) then their first real appearance came from a comic (which i couldn't be bothered to carry on with and i have no reference to it anymore), A Yoshi's Life, a comic-based story showing Toshi going through the stages to adulthood, accompanied by his fellow band mates. After a while, another comic started (which yet again, i couldn't be bothered to do and have no reference to it) which was the Rockin' Yoshi's: Road to Stardom. This one was supposed to be another comic-based story about the Rockin' Yoshi's going that one step further into being heard all around the world. Shamefully, i ended that after the 2nd episode... again. So, to make things easier, i decided to continue the comics, except this time, episodes of random things that occur. Make Love (Jul 23rd 2005)Cashback please (Feb 22nd 2006)Short delivery (Jun 21st 2006)Anyway, Toshi's character (as well as the rest) has gone through very few changes, the first change to him was within the first hour of creation, and that was his name, which was a typo error (oh, like Donkey Kong!), because his name was going to be Roshi, but hitting the wrong key (he's a singer, ironic?) was the best thing i did to him, thus his name changed to Toshi. His second design saw the removal of his boots (i hated those pink boots) and therefore decided to give him a new pair, which came about during an RP with Sky (YoshiWannabe). So out with those pink boots and in came the new designed pair. His third update came the appearance of a tatoo on his left arm, as well as himself, the rest of the gang went under new changes too, seeing the removal of Mishi's cap, half-gloves for Mutshoshi, a ribbon for Kyshi, hair for Soshi and sleeves for Seshi. And this is the latest pic of them all ---> The Rockin' Yoshi's: Reloaded (May 18th 2006)I was gonna colour that one in, but i've not been in the mood to colour sketches lately, so i keep colouring to comp work. So there you have it, the gang you all know and love, how they came to be the guys they are today.

I have to agree with Graedius ^^. Yoshiken has many characteristics that mirror myself, and yet, he also has characteristics and abilities I wish I could have. He makes my existence whole. His physical appearance, personality, sociality, etc. everything mimics my own in some ways. I cant say everyway however.
I mean, I cant say I can summon fire from my inner being, but that was just an ability that Yoshiken had to have ^^. His immense swordsmanship skillz imitates my desire to become a skilled master with bladed weapons of the type as well ^^.
