"It looks like we won." I said, breathing a sigh of relief.

Red nodded as he came back to the group with a map, a hefty amount of gold, and some things the Koopa was wearing. Red put on the scarlet cape he had found, and took his share of gold, dividing it roughly between the group. He also took the map and examined it as the group divided up the spoils. He found their location, not far from the small village. He figured the directions out, and noticed mountain ranges and spots of trees ahead of them, along with two villages that the group would run into, and a handful that were out of the way. He traced his finger up to the long path of the route they were taking, and stopped at a big black spot. There was nothing, just a huge watermark. Red then looked up, and found the castle. He looked down at his finger, than back up at the castle, and pointed to the map. He then looked further in either direction, noticing the map was not one of the world. "Guys...why would this Koopa be carrying a map like this with only x distance?" He asked, confused and a little weary that they were being watched at this moment by someone or something. Red looked to either side of him. Nothing. He turned the map around, and showed the group.

" Because he was assigned to this region. He was sent to act as a lookout for something. I've been with mercenaries before, and we all only had region maps and whatever we came across to know where we were. This thing was no different." Now he felt like he was being watched, and he had his own ideas of who. " We should leave here now, I think. I've heard rumors of travellers disappearing in these grasslands, and I don't want to find out firsthand."

Red nodded quickly. "Come on everyone, back on the trail!" He briskly lead the group onwards, feeling the need to get out of this open field of grass.

I had laughed as the others attacked the creature, preparing to give it a good whack with my Tennis racquet, but shrank back at Mecha's fire spell. Of course, I only stopped feeling sick as they killed it. I could only stare at the ground, and shook my head "no" when Red offered me the money. "You had to kill it with fire," I muttered as I fell into step behind Red again. "Just had to, didn't you now?"

" It was that or be killed. Whatever gets the job done right. You can't expect some mutant with a brain to let you live. Anyway, we should-... Did anybody just realize that we are suddenly walking in a forest?" It seemed to him that one moment he was in the grasslands, and then when he looked around, that they were in the shade of many trees, and he was sure that he could see a wide river ahead. There was a cool breeze, and the sun seemed to cast the familiar late-afternoon rays. When he got closer to the river, it seemed pretty deep as well, although boudlers stuck out in some places. On the far side, out in the distance, he could see a stone wall through the trees. Probably a village.
" Well, either we take a really long time to build a boat here and hope it doesn't sink, or we just swim across and hope the river doesn't pull us down or smash us on the rocks." Above the trees, still out in the distance, he saw a kind of mountain with a smoky tip, hidden among a bunch of smaller mountains. It seemed like there was a building there hidden in that smoke. And above the mountain was a dark swirling cloud that seemed to suck in the smoke. They still had around ten miles to go, by the looks of it.

Red thought to himself as he walked along, keeping his hand on his head which seemed to constantly be in motion as if he had been bitten by a pesky insect. "I guess we're going to have to see what that river is like before we cross it." Red said as he moved along the forest floor, keeping a steady pace. He wanted to be in a town by nightfall before another coincidence with a demon, mutant, or another beast. Red was some what afraid the past encounters the group had were flukes. "What would happen if something powerful arrived that they could not take crossed their path?" Red thought to himself, a little afraid.

I gave that Renard guy a horrible, nasty look. "Fire. You killed him with fire. Of all things ya coulda done..." I was interrupted by the sudden change of scenery. A river laid ahead of us, and we apparently had to cross it. "Why can't we just... ya know, follow it downstream? It's harder to get turned around that way."

Red tilted his head slightly and crossed his arms. "I suppose we can." Red said, trying to look either way were the river would end. "This could lead us all the way back to the ocean, or maybe to pond or lake. Maybe we could build a raft or boat and get there faster by letting the river take us?" Red looked around him for trees that they could use.

I lifted my knee and patted my white shoe. "Or we could walk. We're not in wheelchairs. And we'd have water at the ready all day. And what if we hit a rough spot? Anyways, where's that map? Which general direction do we want to head in?" The impulse to take control of the group was hard to squash, since I felt like I knew what I was doing here. But I knew I could never make a good leader... Pressure always baked my rationality.

Red took the map from under his cape, unrolled it, glanced at it for a second, and then gave it to Yoshee. "We're suppose to be going this way" Red said as he pointed directly across the rough river. "The map doesn't show where the river will spill into since its a region map. It doesn't show much of the river at all. Maybe theres a town at the other end wherever it does though. People usually look for great spots with water to build a civilization."

I started walking into the river. "Well, lets swi-" I started, before a cheep-cheep jumped out and hit me in the chest, pushing me back into the ground. "Darn fish infested river." I mummbled. I got back up trying to act like I never got bullied by a fish.

" Maybe there's a bridge nearby, then? I hate swimming in rivers full of fish with intentions of shoving you around. Is there anything on that map you got from that mutated koopa that you apparently burned to death?" He asked, grinning and nudging Yoshee, just to spur her into anger again.

That was the penultimate straw. This guy had seriously lit my fuse. One more strike... I pulled away from him and glared at the map. "Yes. Well, this looks like we should cross the river..." I looked up at the Shy Guy's discovery of Cheep Cheeps. "Those things taste good. They'll leave us alone if I go in first." And with that, I shoved the map back into Red's hands and marched for the river, shooting out my tongue at the first fish that dared to approach me.

Red watched wide-eyed at what Yoshee was doing. "I suppose it swam across. If The current takes us, it takes us. We'll find some way across if that stupid Koopa did." Red said as he lifted Shyguy in his arms, and followed Yoshee.

" Yeah, a stupid koopa who managed to avoid being sucked under by a current and fish only to be lit like a torch and its neck sliced open. " He muttered, throwing caution to the winds, because he said it loudly enough for Yoshee to hear, and that was within distance of a fist to his face.

I suddenly whipped around in the creek, as the water was only knee-high the first few steps, and pitched the Cheep-Cheep at Renard. "Shut up, shut up!" I screeched at him, throwing a right-handed punch at him as violently as I could.

I looked at the fish. Then I turned away when I saw giant, long, yellow circles attatched to each other. There were red rings on each of the circles. The front circle had a big, red nose and sad, weary eyes. I jumped out Red's arms and onto the floor. I grabbed the back circle and pulled the whole thing into the river. Trouters ran over eating it. "Ew..." I muttered to myself.

"Renard! Stop baiting Yoshee!" I yelled at Renard. I was getting mad at him as well, as I liked Yoshee quite a bit, and I hated to see her being treated like this. I then continued to eat my fill of the delicous cheep-cheeps. "These are even better than Shy Guys. Maybe we should catch a few to bring with us to snack on." I suggested to Red. I didn't know about the others, but I considered Red to be the leader of our group.

"Would you two cut it out? We can't treat each other like this." Red looked darkly at Renard. "Now, Mecha, as you were saying about the fish.." Red tilted his head slightly, and nodded. "I guess so, it will save us some time looking for food to eat." Red grabbed any that would dare leap out at him, and stashed them away under his cloak. Red then jumped into the water, and sunk his feet into the mud-based floor. He slowly waded across the long river, shivering. "The water is pretty cold!" He shouted back to the others, a tad disgusted and the silt that filled his boots.
