A dream, an evil one laughing, breaking everything red knew. Who was he? Why did he want control over the world? red snapped awake in a deep sweat. "Thats funny..." red said as he looked outside. It was still dark out when it was suppose to be morning. Then red remembered the dream he had, and stepped outside of his little hut. An island secluded for the yoshi race. It was usually tropical and peaceful, bright and sunny. Everyone seemed still asleep. There was no chatter of the yoshis today. Red went back inside. He lived alone. He wondered what was going on. He grabbed a large log he was working on for the past few days which resembled a Great Katana, and tied it to his waist.

RIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!! I leaped out of bed in shock as the alarm clock went off. "If I could only have the person who invented alarm clocks in this room with me." I muttered crossly as I went to the window making wringing motions with my hands to show what I would do to said person. It looked a lot darker than usual. I could only see a lone figure looking in a window across the road. "Hey, you!" I called out to the figure.

Stretch, yawn. The normal morning routine. I started at the toes, and worked my way up until my fingers cracked refreshingly. I sat in bed under my sheets for a minute, confused suddenly. Why wasn't it light out yet? Had I gotten up too early? I checked out the window. The sun was up, but no sunlight streamed through the window, and no heat warmed my nose in that comforting way. "Oi..." I straightened up and frowned. I was rather in a bad mood now, but put it out of mind as I realized this probably meant another adventure was knocking at my door. That cheered me up right away. In fact, I flounced over to the door and opened it expectantly. I could almost see the letter on my doorstep, but when I blinked, it was gone. I would have to figure out what was happening on my own. I slammed the door and stuffed my feet into my socks, then my favorite white shoes. They were a little muddy from my outing yesterday, but there was no use washing them today if I was going to be leaving for a while. I strapped on my saddle, and tied my lucky bow around my neck. I checked myself in a small mirror I kept, straightened the loops in my bow, and reopened the door, taking a deep sniff of the morning air. No birds were chirping, and I didn't see other Yoshis out and about. Time to take a hike, I assumed. Maybe others would have noticed this change in the atmosphere and went to check it out. I knew no Yoshi could stay indoors all day even if they tried. I ambled down the small street and checked in windows if they weren't shaded to see if anyone else was up by now. (Everything after this point was added on as a reply to Mecha's post) "Hey, you!" Someone called out. I snapped around. The voice had come from a house I hadn't checked yet, so I scrambled over. "Hey. You know what's been going on?" I asked the Yoshi. I couldn't see him yet, but I knew he was in the house. He hadn't sounded very threatening when he called out, so I could only assume he could help.

red walked through his village on the small isle, checking each house's windows for some sign of liveliness, wondering if he was dreaming everything. He entered one of the houses cautiously, opening the door hesitantly as fear took over his body. "Hello?" he said in a voice no louder than a whisper. He continued to creep inside, checking every room in the house. No one was home. No possessions or former signs of life were found. red scratched his cheek, confused. "What is this? Is this some kind of game?" he said, out-loud, checking each room again.

The figure scrambled over. It was another yoshi. A rather cute one at that. I faintly recognized her, but I couldn't remember from where. "Hey. You know what's been going on?" she asked in an uncertain voice. "No, I just got up, but I have a bad feeling about this." I said, coming out of the door to my house. "It would probably be a bad idea to explore alone. Maybe we should explore together."

Something about the Yoshi seemed off, even though I still couldn't really see him. Oh well, it looks like he's lived here for a while. Nobody in this area's caused any trouble since I've moved here, so he can't be too bad. As he walked out the door and made a suggestion, I discovered what had been awkward. Half his body was mechanical. He said something, and I barely recovered from the little shock in time to hear his last sentence. I smiled and bounced a little, cheerfully holding out my hand. Just because he looked funny didn't mean he wasn't okay, after all. "Alright. I'm Yoshee," I introduced myself.

I could see from her shocked expression that she wasn't expecting me to be half mechanical, but she recovered quickly and bounced a little and then she held out her hand. "Alright. I'm Yoshee." she stated. I took her hand and shook it. "I'm MechaRedYoshi, but everyone calls me Mecha." I said, smiling. It was then I remembered. "Didn't I meet you once before at the annual Yoshi's Ball and Dance 3 years ago?" I asked her trying to remember that night, but all I could remember is that it had been about 2 years before the accident. "I was known as Zero then." I said, figuring she would not remember a Mecha at the ball because I didn't start using that name until after the accident.

I looked down a little. "I didn't live here three years ago. It was probably someone else," I told him. Three years ago... I had looked so different then. That had been before my bow, and right around when I had met Champ, I thought. Maybe a little after. That and I didn't go to many dances or parties. I wanted to change the subject for some reason. "The sooner we start looking around, the better. This darkness is giving me the creeps." I stepped out of the doorway and back into the street. There still wasn't any sign of life besides the two of us. I was used to the chatter of other Yoshis around here, so it was really eerie. I rubbed my arms and gazed at the sky for a second. "We can start going that way. I already checked the houses towards my place," I decided, pointing down the road.

red peeked his head out of the door of the house he was in, and stepped out onto the street. He observed it was still dark out, and a light fog was settling over the town. This was so odd to him; he had never seen this kind of weather before. He started walking down the dirt path which had empty houses on opposite sides. "This feels like a ghost town" red muttered, keeping his hand on his great katana at all times.

"Yeah, it probably was." I admitted. starting to walk with her. "This darkness is really creepy." I said, shivering a bit. "It reminds me of a book I've read called Lunar Landscape by I.V. Yoshirema. It's about these two yoshis who wake up and find themselves on the moon." I shivered big time after saying that. Now I was really creeping myself out. "There's one house I have to check." I said out loud, starting to run without checking to see if Yoshee was keeping up.

Red heard footsteps, and quickly slid behind the side of a house. The fog was quite too thick to see what lied ahead. The fog also played tricks as sound waves bounced from all directions from the reflection of the mist. He couldn't determine who was coming, where they were coming from, or from which direction. He drew his Great Katana, although he knew he couldn't do much than a few bruises with a lousy piece of wood which wasn't sharpened to its fullest - if that. "Maybe it was another Yoshi," he thought, even though he also knew that those chances could be very slim since he had already checked more than a handful's worth of houses' windows, and he even went inside one. He stood there, trying his best not to break the silence with panting, frightened greatly of the sound. A bead of sweat dripped from his large nose as his heart sped in his chest.

"It was then at that moment that I saw a red yoshi directly in my path, and since I couldn't stop in time, I crashed right into him. "Sorry about that. I should've watched where I was going." I said as I got up and held out my hand to help him up.

I had a hard time keeping up with Mecha's fast, regular strides, but when he crashed into something and stopped, I had the time to catch up. I saw a red Yoshi with stripes and a log in his hands laying on the ground, and Mecha was helping him up. It was too late for me to really help at all. "Who's he?" I panted, laying my hands on my hips and breathing deeply.

"Just somebody I happened to bump into." I shrugged casually.

Red sheathed his weak, wooden katana an shook hands with the red yoshi. He extended his arm to the other yoshi who was out of breath. "Hey, my names red.yoshi, do you two have any idea what is going on here?" Red proceeded to tell them what had happened since he awoke that morning, and about the house he checked.

"Nope, sorry, we don't. I was just heading to my girlfriend's house to see if she was ok." I said, a little out of breath.

Red nodded, although he didn't think of the best for this other yoshi's girlfriend judging upon the rest of the empty houses. "I suppose I'll tag along." red said after a few moments. "Then, we should leave this place. Somethings gone wrong and we need to figure out what. I don't like it here when theres no one around." Red shivered.

"I agree." I agreed with a tremor in my voice. It was a few minutes until we made it. The door was ajar, and it looked like the house had been hit by a tornado.
"Everything seems ok here. She is always untidy like this." saying this, I went into the bedroom. There was a note on the bed.
To Mecha, They've come! We need to escape! Bowser's behind this, I just know it! (Here is where the writing gets really messy.) They've taken the other yoshis and only I remain. They're pounding on the door as I write this! Oh n-
I looked up from the note. "Well at least it explains something."

I was suspicious as I hovered over Mecha's shoulder, reading the message the girl had left. "You know, Bowser's forces would have destroyed the letter if they caught her writing it," I thought aloud. Or maybe I was just too paranoid. I shook my head a little. "Sure, Bowser's probably behind it, but..." My voice trailed off. Why would they let her leave the letter?

Red scratched his head. "Thats what I was thinking...left open like that. You don't suppose its a trap? It seems a little odd Bowser expects us to march right into his castle and rescue her." Red thought for a moment. "We need to take this into a different perspective. We have to take long cuts, short cuts, anything but the Norm. We need to train ourselves to fight like experts and master in using different skills to trick bowser. We can't use the same egg-throwing tongue-licking way that other yoshi's do. We must full bowser, for he is expecting us."
