I nodded, agreeing with the red Yoshi's plan. "Except the no-tongue part," I argued. "It's like, a classic or something. We gotta let him know it's Yoshis he's up against, not just some regular fighters." Well, so much for staying home this week, I chuckled to myself a bit.

"Hmm, I think you're correct here." I said, thinking hard. "My girlfriend was an expert in the martial arts, so I don't think we're dealing with ordinary villains here." I mused, sitting down on the bed. "We'll need to train hard and long to be ready for whatever Bowser throws at us." I got up, thinking hard. "But one thing still puzzles me. Why didn't Bowser's troops capture us too?"

I bit my lip thinking about this. "Maybe he missed us?" I suggested, but I hardly believed my own words. Why had we been left behind? "Well, if he didn't get us three, we can't be the only lucky ones. Maybe there are others still around town?" I hoped so. I had a few friends around here, and if they had been captured... Well, let's just say whoever did wouldn't be walking for a few weeks if I found out.

Red started to the door, as if he was about to leave, but then he spun around. "The night before all of this happened, I had a dream. Someone evil was laughing as a darkness was spreading across the land. Maybe..." red stopped mid sentace, and thought for a moment. "Maybe we were ment to stop this evilness." It was just a hunch that red had, a very silly one at that. But what if it was true? Red stared at the other two yoshi's, wondering what they thought.

Something didn't feel right. That was all he knew. It was why he wore a stealth suit he had stolen instead of his usual clothing this day. It was dark outside, even though the sun had risen. he heard someone talking outside on the street. Renard reached for a crowbar, and slowly opened the door, peeking outside at the people talking. There were three of them. There was a red yoshi right in front of his door. Renard froze for a split-second, and then slowly raised his crowbar. he found it hard to trust anyone. He was about to bring it down, until he heard the red yoshi saying something, about a dream. It sounded strange, and felt nothing close to a coincidence with the dark morning. It didn't matter, either these people were a threat or they were not, and only time would tell when they notice him standing right there.

"Well, even if we weren't meant to do it, I'm going to," I told the red Yoshi, and then I saw the one with the crowbar standing right behind him. I forgot to close my mouth after finishing my sentence, but didn't know what to say. If I called out, he might hit Red, but if I didn't say anything, then he would probably do it anyways. That instantly made me angry. How was I supposed to do something in this position? I threw together a light-speed plan and snapped my tongue out to make a grab for the crowbar. Hopefully that would take the guy's mind off of dashing Red's brains out.

He didn't expect that to happen. But the green yoshi wasn't able to break his grip on the crowbar. " Let go of it. If you won't try to harm me, I won't harm you." Who exactly were these people? he remembered vaguely of seeing them among the crowds in this town, but he paid no attention to them before this. Back then, they were just a part of the background. Now, though, they were far from that. Very far.

I stood with a bemused expression on my face. "You don't have to worry, we're not evil." I called out to the yoshi with the crowbar. To Red, I said, "I think you're right, although counting the yoshi that's about to give you a headache unless you move, that's four of us." Then, I turned to Yoshee. "You do know that if he lets go of that crowbar suddenly, you're going to get whacked in the face with it, do you?" Personally, I was half hoping he did either hit Red or that Yoshee did get whacked in the face with the crowbar. I doubted Red would have anything more than a big headache, and I also thought the other scenario was Yoshi Island's Funniest Home Videos material.

Red casually side-stepped the range of the bar, then turned around to face the silvery-blue yoshi. "My name is red, I guess you've been listening to our conversation this whole time." He scratched behind his head, then held out his hand. "And your name is?"

" Renard. You probably haven't heard of me before. And yes, I heard most of what you were saying, about going to some castle. I often raid castles, using...unconventional methods. I can make your lives easier with what you're all going up against. Oh, and there is one thing I have to get." He wen't back in his house. He just had a feeling he might be needing the gift his friend gave him. He opened the hallway closet door, and in it, was a sheathed Katana-like titanium sword. He never really used it before, but he knew from watching his friend using it that it could be swung at unbelievable speed.
Renard came back outside, after taking all the necessary provisions in his house. " Alright, now I am ready." He told Red. His mind drifted to when he last looked at himself in the mirror. His hair was a perfect mix of dark brown and gray. It just wasn't right to be that young and already have many spots on his hair lose color.

I quickly dropped the crowbar after Mecha made his suggestion. "Don't give him ideas," I half snarled, half laughed in reply. What was unconventional supposed to mean? I already didn't like this guy, and we had hardly met. First he tries to hit Red with a crowbar even though we're all Yoshis, and then he tells us he raids castles. And then he comes out with a big flashy sword. Nerve-grinding, Renard was.

I laughed. "Ok, ok. I won't give him any ideas. Personally, I wasn't sure if I liked this new yoshi. I mean, arming yourself before you even make sure that the group that you see is evil isn't always the best idea, but considering the circumstances of how weird it is outside, I couldn't really blame him. You also had to admire his courage as well. Anybody who would attack 3 opponents all by themselves must be really brave. "Oh, yeah. I almost forgot to introduce myself. I'm MechaRedYoshi, but you can call me Mecha." I said cheerfully, waving.

Red ran his fingers off of the soft surface of the wood of his own sword, standing no where in this companion conflict, but an ally. He looked up, into the distance. "It might not just be easy as crashing a castle.." he said. He walked from the house to the street. "This island which we stand on might be the safest place for now. Who knows what lies across the waters? Possibly monstrous things we haven't even seen of before. I suggest we make some headway, and stop this evilness before it continues to spread." He looked upwards thoughtfully. "Then again, maybe the whole world isn't this dark yet, and we could find others who could be of aid, helping us with food, clothing, possibly armor and varieties of things we could use as weapons to defeat bowser and whatever he has in store for us. If we want to travel off of this island though, we need something to serve as a boat and food to last us at sea for a couple of days." Red turned to look at the other three.

" Mecha. That won't be hard to remember, considering all of that metal." Renard looked at the green yoshi this time. " Apparently, you don't seem to like me. I know that you think I'm trying to show off, by that look in your eyes." He took a step forward, hearing a very small splash. When he looked down, he saw that there was an inch of water flowing through the street, slowly rising. Was this darkness playing havoc with the weather and the tides? " I think this is more than Bowser's work. I'm not sure, but this could be somebody else's work, although he is surely involved. And you all may want to consider finding a boat before we end up having to wade through waist-deep water."

I decided I liked this yoshi after all. "Good idea." I said, nodding. "Now I'm definately glad I bought that speedboat three days ago. It's over at the docks, come on, let's go!" I called out cheerfully, starting to run toward the docks.

He could see it in my eyes? I had looked in the mirror once. They looked like puddles of mercury when I was mad, probably, considering they were grey. Ah well, maybe he could read people's eyes. That didn't mean I was impressed. I tried to ignore Renard and turned to Red. "I've got food in the fridge back at my pad," I told him. "I'll go get it before we end up having soup for every meal." And with that, I was striding briskly back to my house. I hated the ocean sometimes- it could be a lovely platform of blue, carrying your boat along like they were best of friends, or a nasty landscape of deadly mountains, crashing into you and sweeping you off your tiny vessel. So unpredictable. And yet, so exciting and adventurous. Mostly the only reason why I put up with it.

I screeched to a halt at the mention of food. "I'll come with you just in case. For all we know, Bowser's troops could still be here." I offered. It was weird. I felt a sort of affection towards Yoshee, even though we had never met. It was then that I vowed to myself to protect her at all costs.

"Alright," I replied, stopping for a second to let him catch up. I walked in silence for a moment after he returned. "D'you think we can trust that Renard guy?" I asked suddenly. "Something about him rubs me the wrong way." I could see my house now, but it would give us a few more minutes of wading through the ankle-deep water to get there. Not enough to slow me down, but enough to keep my shoes wet and floppy.

"Now that you mention it, I'm not sure." I said, sidestepping a particular deep spot. "Personally, I think we should keep an eye on him." Then, almost as an afterthought, I asked. "How do you feel about him?"

I glared at the water for a second, thinking about my answer. "He raids castles, has a big fancy sword, and thinks he can see right through me." I said, not really saying how I felt at first. "And I do think he's showing off, as he so kindly reminded me." I know I shouldn't be wierded out by his grey hair as well, since I had grey eyes, but it did. Why did he look so old when he was obviously about my age?
