I'd have to choose Kirby on this one, the music just seems more interesting.
------------------- Now for some Q and A, in case someone has a question.
Q: What if we haven't heard all this songs? A: Don't worry, just use the Super Smash Bros Melee sound test... Sadly this excludes Excitebike, Kid Icarus, Custom Robo, Animal Crossing, and Pikmin... And it doesn't have all the songs. So you might want to use a video game music site like, vgmusic.com, but this may not include all the original songs.
Q: Why'd you put series after Excitebike? A: There was a game called Excitebike 64 for the N64.
Q: Why didn't you put Super Smash Bros in there? A: Because... I shouldn't have to explain this, but, oh well. It includes all the music, and almost nothing original (except for Target test, the intro music, and all the remixes of Target Test and the intro music)

Do the Yoshi games fall into the Mario games choice? I'd vote that, but I do love Pikmin... I'll pick eventually XD

Kirby. I have no doubt in my mind that Kirby games have the best music. My personal favorite was the music from Kirby Superstar; particularly in the battle with Marx. I have a midi of that one on my Freewebs account. It's not an option, but Banjo-Kazooie is definately a close second. They can do wonders on the flute and panpipe. I've got midis of that too. If you have Banjo-Tooie, and are in Cauldron Keep, listen to it for a while. It gives me chills, and is my favorite.

I particularly like the songs in SMW, Yoshi's Island and Mario Kart. So, I guess I'll choose the Mario series. The SMW and Mario Kart music fills me with so much nostalgia that it's crazy, and I can't find ONE song that I don't like in Yoshi's Island.

So. Hard. To. Pick. I'll place them all in a list, though in no particular order: Legend of Zelda Series Metroid Series (Gotta love the techno beats. XD) Fire Emblem Series Star Fox Series Pokemon Series (Yes... >.>) That's about it, due to the fact I haven't played a lotta those others. But, yeah. I Double-scoop ice cream all those musics. They're my best buds. HEAR THAT, YOSHIKEN!? XD

Mario can be creepy sometimes. ~Thwaps Strangie.~ I'd have to say the Mario games. A lot of the music from the original games (SMB3, Super Mario World, et cetera) was catchy and quite enjoyable. Yoshi's Island had some calming music, too. But my favorite has to be Yoshi's Island music. That intro theme is just combustion awesome, which means really good. I also enjoyed the other tunes to the game. Was just simply smashing. Other tracks from Mario 64 (particularily the Dire Dire Docks theme) were great, too. I even liked some tunes from the Mario Party games (hooray for the original's title screen theme and E. Gad's Garage!) and from the Gamecube Mario games. I also have a lack of experience with just about every other game that was an option.

Mario FTW. While Kirby has the nice upbeat tunes, they can get rather annoying after a while. Zelda's music is great, but...Mario's beats it. ^.=.^

Metroid.
Mainly because it does a great job of building atmosphere in the game.
That, and I really like the electronica-ish remixes of old tracks they put in the Prime games.

It would have to go for Kirby, at least for this time. It likely has been said of why such would be chosen. When listening to the music from such things, the mood of yourself can be changed in a blink of an eye. Other games can do this, but something about Kirby is sweet and sound. It doesn't cause you any worries. It makes the maps fun to access, you could spend your time dwelling in them for hours on end. Even after you had beaten them before, just so you could get that tune in the crevice of your ear. To understand the meaning behind it, and smile while you run about. There is a sweet melody in every world, something which adds to the atmosphere that lies about. Because Nintendo has found a way to place meaning into such a sensation, there is a reason why Kirby can dominate in such a void. However, there are other games as shown that really beat down on the "Grandeur" of Musical Acceptance.
Now the Mario series has always placed an upbeat melody in the lining of their games. Something to keep the player interested in what they are moving through. It keeps your mind on the message and your fingers going foward. You can't deny what it can bring, both Kirby and Mario have a classic hold on them. The older tunes were made with primative features, yet they gave us something that nothing in these days could. Of course, we all see things today with our music composition. Yet, it's not like before, back then they never had such thing as big band. It was carried down to a few beats over some measures. Those that completed such tasks new the hold that music could have, and they utilized it to the best of their ablity, as was shown throughout the first few games produced.
One wonders why Zelda has not gotten any views of the matter. Yet of course, it could take place on the fact that it is a newer addition. It in fact does use the sweet matter of a big band apperance. Bringing in instruments and tools to make the noise something valuable to the ears. It set in the mood to the program. It was diffrent, yet it also had those lovely tunes to bring it about. Now this of course, is a used example of the 64 games. While the NES and SNES Zeldas utilized to the best of their ability catchy tunes in a softer hold, with the same production as Mario and Kirby.

Hmm... that's a hard one... Mario's musics are good, but there's nothing too memorable besides the Mario's main theme.... As for Kirby, i only played Crystal Shards so i can't say anything about it...
It's a tie beetwen Zelda and Star Fox. Both have great musics, memorable musics, at least for me. Sorry Fox, i'll go with Zelda this time XD
