You set a chatroom up on your own computer?
Still, the room dies as soon as you disconnect from the internet. Better off me setting up an IRC server and setting up a java client that people can use to connect. My machine remains on for long periods of time...
...or I use whitewinged angel and set a channel up on there.
Meh, better off hosting it myself. At least corrupt admins can't ban members for no reason, in the event one gets angry with the other admins and decides to take it out on the servers and it's members...

It's a suggestion...
Plus, no one's going to remember an IP. Also, if it changes everyday, then it becomes annoying, when someone wants to connect to it.
It'd be better to host a room/server on here, as I have a domain pointing to this machine, and all people need to remember is pinkfloydyoshi.com. simple.
I'm just saying people don't want to have to keep remembering IP addresses all the time...

..I don't think we really need a chat. A forum is good enough, and if we want to speak to someone with faster responses, we can always use AIM or MSN.

The one good thing about having an IRC chat room, is that you can set up quiz bots in the channels, and it's funny to see a mass of people guessing questions. I used to do the same when my site had a chatroom, but I got fed up of having more than one IRC client running.
It's not up yet, but those that use IRC clients:
Server: pinkfloydyoshi.com Channel: #yc
You can make your own channels too. I have no restrictions on that...

I agree with Tempest. If you don't have AIM/MSN,that's sort of your problem. It makes it sound as if YC isn't enough.
That was a little harsh.

It's true though. It's not hard to download these free messenger programs.

True, but not everyone can download them and install them, due to restrictions imposed on them by their parents.
Since the Java IRC client will be loaded when someone goes to the page, there's no downloading neccasary, unless they don't have Java installed, and thats needed for many sites to work...
Jacob: What type of internet connection are you using? By the look of your IP, you're using Cable internet.

Actually, I'd say the one good thing about an IRC chat room is that people who'd otherwise be too shy to start up a conversation on MSN can just jump in the room and be a part of its goings-on. ...

Can't say I've seen any of that on IRC, but thats probably due to the servers I frequent... well, server Dynastynet seems pretty free of that kind of thing, but not like that matters if you decide to host it

It's currently not working...
Technical explanation: Because Windows 2003 server doesn't allow programs to bind to multiple network adapters, I need to find a way to patch the TCP/IP stack to allow it. I either bind it to the DSL line, and I can't connect to it, or I bind it to my local network adapter team, and the world can't connect to it.
Brilliant. ...I'll see if I can get port forwarding working and piggyback IgnitionServer off Valefor instead of the internet server.
Will repost shortly.
Edit: Server up, but I need sleep, so it's going down again. Back up in 8 hours.
Server: pinkfloydyoshi.com Using the dredded IRCXPro. I'll get unrealIRCD working tommorow. IRCXPro only allows 10 connections, and thats not good if there's going to be chat bots present.
I'll sort the Java client out too.
Any IRC-Regulars recommend any quiz bots? Good as a time waster, and competing against other members.

I'm a regular in whitewinged-angel because I'm a chanop for Yoshi Lore's chatroom. I have been on freenode to talk to some invisionfree staff as they have a chatroom on there too.
Not sure if anyone knows about something called 'Metroid Cubed' but someone recently came into the ylf chatroom saying they did it, and showed us a bunch of other stuff he'd done, such as a shockwave interactive tour of the princesses castle. Quite interesting.
Getting back on the subject, I'll sort the Java client out now.
For all other IRC veterans, server's pinkfloydyoshi.com. There's a channel active called #yc. There's #services for server queries. I find it fustrating that I need to goto someone else to fix a server side problem, or a nick problem, which is the reason I've set up my own server.
