ok! well, we all were talking about the idea of having some sort of "Convention" where everyone could meet! well! ive got quite an idea that i believe would most definitely work!
well i was on another MB a while ago (it was when one of my very firsts) well, they had an idea that cost a whole bunch of money (like our idea) but the Admin set up an idea to do Donations. people would donate and Artists would do commissions and everyone tried to help. Anyways in about half a year they reached their desired amount!!
i believe that this donation thing can work for us too!! i already asked Anjil and she would love to help us with commissions! i learned how to do PayPal so we can use that for the donations! it would take about 3 years or something but i know we can do this!
so, what do y'all think?

As long as it's dedicated, this looks like it will work, eventually. The commission prices would probably have to be on the low end because many of the members don't, or can't, have jobs. Even better would be to have multiple artists doing commissions. It's win-win, a long term goal is being acheived and people are getting good pictures in return.
And if the values are right, maybe more members will be past the point of parent restriction.

Like I said before, sounds like a very good idea! The amount of money needed would very per person, however, seeing as we live from all over the world. But it could be done...

Let me see if I understood right- You're planning to accumulate a very substantial amount of money, which you're going to use to fly everyone on this board to a particular place, to have a convention? Heh, I gladly help you all with doing some commissions - even if it looks impossible a bit ... ah, but anyways. o_o (just need to think about: HOW?)
But first, someone needs to tell the actual, complete plan - this, what Yoshiken said is just the idea of the entire thing, but if you really want to execute such a "Convention" ... you need more than that. :P

This may sound really stupid...
If you get a person to drive a tour bus to pick up others around the US, and try to get some flyers in mail, not E-mail because some might think it's SPAM or a virus. If one of you could get the addresses and send those flyers, it could be possible to go...
But that's my opinion...

Jay, I hate to say this, but that probably ain't even gonna come close to working. What if your parents see the flyer and wonders where it came from? Then come to find out that you are meeting up with people you don't even know? And what if someone hacks the forums (or the person who is receiving these addresses) and something bad (such as blackmail or... worse) happens?

Just a thought and you're right. But how can we let our parents know? Not E-Mail. Some parents will think it just a scam or spam, so how do we let them know?

I really don't know... My best guess is that the Convention would be put off for a few years, so that more members are free from parental restrictions. And besides, we don't even know stuff like what it's going to be, how much it's going to cost, exactly how we're going to come up with the money (because I don't think just art commissions and donations are enough), etc.

well, its not like we would get the money immediately, it would take about three years or so.
I believe that this idea can work, i know that everyone wouldnt be able to make it but there should still be a substantial amount! and there are many alternatives to PayPal!! i guarantee that this can happen!

I don't think the idea is foolish. Something on this scale shows determination, and to be quite honest, anything that has that determination powering it shows that the idea is going to work. It's like an unstoppable train. You're not going to get in it's way.
Find a different payment processor and it'd work. It would take time, but with patience comes perfection, and the perfection would be well enough rewarded.
