Read the server rules if you can be bothered, enter your forum display name as your nick and click "Connect", and you'll appear in the chat room straight away. If you don't understand what "Cloning" or "oper logins" are, chances are, you won't do it because it's deliberate abuse of the server, so don't worry. I own this server, so I won't kick you off for no reason.

April 19th - Server addresses changed, irc.anbraxas.net no longer works. use the two new servers from now on.

[For Feb17th - A fault on the server has forced me to reboot all services on the system. A critical process is taking longer to shut down than it should and I will leave it to finish instead of forcefully terminating to protect all databases hosted by the server. Est downtime, 20 minutes.]

Okay, so I've had some complainers - you know who you are - about how the going-ons in the chat aren't regulated as well as they should be.

So! With that said, I've talked to PFY about some additional chat rules. I'm posting this and then linking it to the news fader so EVERYONE is aware that these things are now going to be regulated.

- Try to keep all the crazy sextalk outside of the public chat room. There are messengers for this type of thing, so please take it somewhere else. Would you like it if someone randomly decided to do some disturbing act in the middle of a public building? No, don't think so (and if you say yes, then God have mercy on you, because I sure won't.). That said, the rules for this particular subject are...
FIRST TIME OFFENDERS will simply recieve a reminder that there are alternatives to the public chat for that sort of thing.
REPEAT OFFENDERS will be kicked. I don't think it needs to go much farther than this, because I'm pretty sure most of you have enough common sense to not tick us off. ;D But, if it's needed, the admin team will take further action if we deem it necessary.

Okay, the next thing I wanna bring up is...
- Try not to go overboard with picking on other chatters, to the point where they feel unwelcome. I don't think this should be too much of a problem, but I don't want people to be driven away from YC because they find out the users are total jerks. (Trust me, I know how it feels to be the butt of a joke. Plenty of times.)

This morning, my highlight was set off a number of times regarding someone breaking the above rule. This in turn spawned a set of questions and arguments against the above rule. At present, the chat room has split into 2 channels.

1 - #yc - Main Yoshi's Corner Chat Room.

...and...

2 - #ycmature - Yoshi's Corner Mature Chat Room.

The first room is the room all members should lobby in before jumping into #ycmature. The #ycmature channel is exempt from the above rule, so people can use all the innuendo they want there, and talk about stuff that would anger mods and admins in #yc.

Generally, forum rules apply in #yc with the inclusion of the above rule where there is no innuendo allowed.

Why are there 2 rooms now?
Because not everyone feels comfortable talking about, or being in an environment talking about sexual talk and references to it. When someone joins a chat room, they're going to be the following:

Wary
Shy
Curious

Even moreso, if they've never been in a chatroom before, and if you're new to the board and want to see what the members are like before joining us, first impressions count. #yc is for everyone.

Some people are pretty sound with talking about the above though, so to settle their end of the deal, #ycmature was made. This room is for those who are alright with sexual talk and want to talk about it. People new to chatrooms are not recommended to join this room. Anything goes in here.

The above sexual innuendo rule is exempt from #ycmature, along with any censors.

Abuse the server by flooding channels, attempting oper logins or generally do things you shouldn't be doing, and you'll be removed from the server permanently. The server is provided free by myself, the least you can do is behave on it. >>

Oh yeah, sorry 'bout that. Was doing some work on the web servers. Needed to test a couple of new programs that firaga will be updated to run in the near future. I announced the downtime on the network, but I didn't here. I'll be sure to link to a page in a post on this board so people can check if I'm doing maintainence on the servers if things don't seem to be working right away.

Although, if it's freezing, it sounds like you have an old installation of Java on your computer which the Java client doesn't seem to like, either that, or you said "No" to "Do you wish to run this applet?". :S

Chat room will go down from 1pm til 10pm as well as the webservers hosting the java client. The downtime is to resolve a whole host of problems and add new features to the network.

The main webserver is back live. However, I'm having trouble with the operating system software on the chat server (Terra) and it's taking a while to fix since I'm having to do everything through a bash command prompt. It's 3:35am at present, so I'll be going for another hour, before heading to bed and starting again tommorow. It will go back live for tommorow's peak period.

Sorry 'bout the downtime, It'll all be fixed soon.

Edit: Chat server is online, but as of yet, no services are available, and the server may go down intermittently while the conf files are customized.

Nothing. The server is up and is currently serving 32 of 500 client connections. If you're getting an error, post the error so I can tell you whats going on.

If ever there are problems, and I've not given a status update here yet, post the error you're getting. This will help me diagnose whats going on. Simply saying "I'm getting an error!" won't help. :/

It means you've picked a time when the server is offline, or your firewall is actively refusing connections on port 6667. The server is up so if you have trouble now,make sure port 6667 is open in your firewall. There's a high chance that I've not had any experience in using your firewall software, so sadly, I probably couldn't advise you on how to open it, if you don't know. Say what it is and someone might be able to help you out.
